Candied hot pepper

Candied hot peppers were a variety of hot green pepper that had a sugary white coating. Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs drew inspiration from the use of etaan crystals as a substitute for standard kyber crystals in lightsaber power sources, and replaced the usual fruit garnish eaten by the people of the planet Etai with jybbuk slush topped with condensed nerf milk, thus inventing Spiced Jybbuk Juice.

Tuggs said that these peppers, which resembled the sparkling crystal mines of Etai, offset the drink's sweetness with their spiciness, and they were used alongside other red and green garnishes. After touring the galaxy between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, Tuggs included the recipe for Spiced Jybbuk Juice in his third cookbook, entitled The Ultimate Cookbook, which was released in 35 ABY.

Behind the scenes

Candied hot peppers appeared in a recipe featured in the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a cookbook authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe Spiced Jybbuk Juice recipe uses jalapeño slices that are coated in granulated sugar to represent the candied hot peppers.
