Pepper was a kind of food additive and a vegetable, available in both sweet and spicy forms. During the Galactic Civil War, while on a mission to the planet Denon, Luke Skywalker and Nakari Kelen of the Alliance to Restore the Republic discovered a picnic table with both salt and pepper after ordering cartoons of noodles from Sakhet's Noodles. Before consuming her noodles, Kelen seasoned the accompanying nerf nuggets with pepper. The garden belonging to Wedge Antilles and Norra Wexley contained pepper plants. Strono Tuggs, an Artiodac chef, created Roasted Chando Peppers, a dish made with Chandrilan chando peppers, which are a sweet and edible type of pepper.
Kevin Hearne's 2015 novel, Heir to the Jedi, marked the initial canonically appearance of pepper. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, pepper was initially referenced within the Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook, released by West End Games in 1996.
