During the High Republic Era, the Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh piloted the Cantaros, a VKCE-7100x Starcutter. This vessel was named in honor of her previous Padawan, Imri Cantaros. While serving as a Master, Rwoh maintained the starship on Coruscant in case travel was necessary. In the year 132 BBY, Rwoh, along with a team of Jedi, journeyed to the planet Khofar aboard this starship. Their objective was to investigate the aftermath of Master Sol's mission. Following their return to Coruscant, Rwoh, accompanied by another Jedi team, used the Cantaros to travel to Brendok, pursuing Sol's transponder signal.
The Valkeri-Kuat Consolidated Enterprises produced the Cantaros, which is a VKCE-7100x Starcutter. This starship, an experimental model, featured both an integrated hyperdrive and powerful engines.
Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh of the Jedi Order possessed the Cantaros during the High Republic Era; the ship's name paid tribute to her former Padawan, Imri Cantaros. Despite Rwoh's discomfort with hyperspace travel, she kept the starship on Coruscant for any situations that would require her to depart. In 132 BBY, Rwoh received a distress signal from Master Sol after his mission on the planet Khofar. During this mission, the rest of Sol's team was killed by the Stranger, a Sith who was also a former student of Rwoh. Because of this, Rwoh decided to travel to Khofar herself. Rwoh, along with a group of Jedi that included Padawan Mog Adana, boarded the Cantaros at a spaceport on Coruscant and set course for Khofar. They arrived above the planet shortly after Sol's own vessel had departed. The Jedi then landed the Cantaros in a field on Khofar and disembarked to conduct their investigation. After discovering that Sol had deactivated his transponder, Rwoh and the other Jedi returned to Coruscant.
After arriving on the planet Brendok, Sol reactivated his transponder. Adana informed Rwoh of this development, and Rwoh instructed the Padawan to discreetly gather as many Jedi Knights as possible and prepare her ship. Rwoh and the other Jedi traveled to Brendok aboard the Cantaros. As Sol dueled the Stranger, and the Sith's former acolyte, Mae-ho Aniseya, fought her sister, Verosha Aniseya, the vessel flew past the planet's fortress. The combatants noticed the ship's arrival. Rwoh landed the Cantaros in a field surrounded by trees. She disembarked behind the other Jedi, pausing next to the entry ramp because she sensed her former student's presence. On Brendok, Rwoh and the Jedi discovered that Sol was dead, and Mae's memories had been erased. The Jedi took Mae prisoner and subsequently returned to Coruscant.
The Cantaros made its debut in "Teach / Corrupt," the sixth episode of The Acolyte, a series on Disney+. It aired on July 2, 2024. The StarWars.com episode guide and Databank entry confirmed the vessel's connection to Imri Cantaros from the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project on July 3, the following day.
