Carithlee was a pilot of starfighters who, prior to her departure from the unit, served with the distinguished Rogue Squadron by 7 ABY. During the campaign against Ysanne Isard, the Imperial leader, on the planet of Thyferra, after the original Rogues left on an unsanctioned mission, Carithlee was chosen for a temporary Rogue Squadron that filled in for the real one. Carithlee, along with most of the other pilots in the replacement unit, went back to their original assignments within the New Republic once the original Rogue Squadron members were back on duty.
As a pilot of starfighters, Carithlee was a member of the renowned unit, Rogue Squadron, which served the Rebel Alliance and later the New Republic during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire. Carithlee was no longer with the Rogues by 7 ABY, and was instead serving in a different unit, despite being considered a veteran of the squadron.
Following the liberation of Coruscant, the galactic capital, from Imperial forces, Ysanne Isard, the Imperial leader, retreated to the planet of Thyferra. This prompted the entirety of Rogue Squadron, under the leadership of Commander Wedge Antilles, to resign from the New Republic military in order to wage an unauthorized war against Isard.
The New Republic government, in the absence of the original Rogues, decided to create an ersatz Rogue Squadron, as they felt that the very existence of a Rogue Squadron was crucial for maintaining public morale during that period of the war. Lieutenant Derek Klivian was placed in command of this newly formed Rogue Squadron. Carithlee, along with a mix of former Rogues and new recruits, was selected to join Klivian's unit, which served together for roughly six months.

After the real Rogue Squadron successfully defeated Isard, its pilots were reinstated into the New Republic military, and their return was publicly celebrated. Carithlee and the ersatz squadron flew their X-wing starfighters to greet Antilles and his pilots as they returned to Coruscant.
To avoid confusion regarding call signs, Klivian temporarily renamed his unit to Red Squadron. Carithlee and the rest of Red Squadron then engaged the Rogues in a friendly flying competition above the crowded Imperial Plaza, where they impressed the onlookers with elaborate stunts, such as the Three Diamonds Parade Formation.
The two squadrons then landed among the cheering crowds at the plaza, where the pilots of both units greeted each other. During this time, Antilles considered creating a new starfighter-commando unit, which would eventually be named Wraith Squadron. Klivian gave Antilles the personnel files of his temporary squadron for review and possible inclusion into the new squadron. However, Carithlee was not selected by Antilles. Instead, when the ersatz Rogue Squadron was disbanded, Carithlee went back to the pilot's previous unit.
By 7 ABY, Carithlee was considered a veteran member of Rogue Squadron, an elite starfighter unit, and was skilled in piloting a T-65 X-wing starfighter. However, Wedge Antilles was not impressed by the flying skills of Carithlee and the pilot's squadron mates during the two Rogue Squadrons' friendly competition above Coruscant.
Carithlee made a brief appearance in X-Wing: Wraith Squadron, a novel published in 1998 and the fifth book in the Star Wars: X-Wing series, written by Aaron Allston.
