Celestials, famous for their vocal performances, were a singing group. During a mission on Kullgroon in 10 BBY, Lando Calrissian likened the singing voice of Naaruu, who had threatened Lando, who subsequently died at Lando's hand, and whose hide Lando claimed as a cape, to the most melodious of the Celestials.
The canon introduction of Celestials occurred in the 2018 comic Lando - Double or Nothing 2. This comic was penned by Rodney Barnes and the art was done by Paolo Villanelli. In the Star Wars Legends timeline, the novel Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu by L. Neil Smith, published in 1983, was the first mention of Celestials, though they were not named. Troy Denning first gave the Celestials their name in his 2005 novel Dark Nest I: The Joiner King. Within Legends continuity, the Ones, who debuted in Overlords, a 2011 episode from Season Three of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV show, were identified as Celestials in the "Galactic Architecture 101 and the History of Centerpoint Station" article on the Star Wars Blog; however, no official connection has been established between the Ones and Celestials in canon.
