Champat, situated within the Core Worlds, is a land-based celestial body of astronomical interest. This industrialized locale holds significance as the place where the human Caluan Ematt was born in the year 20 BBY. Later in its history, Champat rose to prominence as a vital center for resource extraction and manufacturing under the rule of the Galactic Empire. During Operation Ringbreaker, an effort undertaken by the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry in 3 ABY, General Crix Madine, emboldened by initial victories in the campaign, identified this industrial Core World on a galactic map. He marked it among other Imperial shipyards, drydocks, and mining operations that he thought warranted future attacks.
Madine assessed Champat's production capacity as being at a moderate level, while its security was considered high. He then incorporated this map into a formal report submitted to leader Mon Mothma of the Alliance. The Operation Ringbreaker initiative ultimately failed, and Madine's report eventually found its way into The Rebel Files, a physical document collection curated by archivist Hendri Underholt.
The reference book and boxed set Star Wars: The Rebel Files, authored by Daniel Wallace and released in 2017, included a mention of Champat.
