Destroyer
The Confederacy of Independent Systems utilized Recusant-class Commerce Guild destroyers.
A warship classification known as a destroyer was employed by numerous factions throughout the galaxy. The Chiss Ascendancy, the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and other entities all possessed various destroyer models.
Description
Overview
Across the galaxy, various factions used a type of warship called a destroyer. According to the [Anaxes War College System](/article/anaxes_war_college_system], which categorizes capital ship classes, a destroyer was a warship ranging from approximately 1,000 to 2,000 meters in length. This placed it in size between a heavy cruiser and a battlecruiser. The destroyer class was introduced by the system in what the Chiss and other groups from the Unknown Regions call Lesser Space, which is the part of the galaxy beyond the Unknown Regions.
Models
Numerous destroyer models were actively used. The Chiss Ascendancy's Ruling Families and Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet operated the Chiss destroyer along with the Clarr destroyer. A number of models were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, including the Corporate Alliance's Fantail-class destroyer, the Commerce Guild's Recusant-class Light Destroyer, and the Recusant-class Support Destroyer. The Nikardun Destiny deployed the Nikardun destroyer during their conquests within the Unknown Regions. Organizations such as the Galactic Republic, Galactic Empire, Imperial Remnants, First Order, and Sith Eternal all made use of Star Destroyers.
History
The Anaxes War College System broadened the nomenclature during the Clone Wars to encompass three additional classes—destroyer, battlecruiser, and dreadnought—even though the destroyer classification was already in use in the Unknown Regions. It's worth noting that the dreadnought era predates this, having existed during the Alsakan Conflicts. Destroyers were used in the Clone Wars, with the rise of the Star Destroyer design and the destroyers employed by the Separatists. Following the Clone Wars, Star Destroyers remained in service throughout the Imperial Era, as well as during the rise and fall of the First Order several decades later.
