Riot clone trooper
Clone riot troopers, also referred to as riot clone troopers, were a specialized division of the Coruscant Guard, specifically trained as clone shock troopers for the purpose of riot control. These troopers performed their duties on the planet of Coruscant, where they worked alongside members of the civilian police force on street patrols and helped manage large crowds during public demonstrations.
History
Riot clone troopers were dispatched to locate Satine Kryze, the Duchess of Mandalore, when she was wrongly accused of the murder of her close associate, Davu Golec. Their search led them through the streets of Coruscant, aided by local police droids and police probes. They questioned local inhabitants, seeking information about the duchess's whereabouts, aiming to apprehend her for alleged offenses that were later proven to be unfounded. During this operation, a pair of riot troopers attempted to communicate with an Ithorian, but their inability to understand anything other than Galactic Basic Standard prevented effective communication.
Later in the Clone Wars, following the bombing of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, riot clone troopers were deployed to manage the agitated crowds demanding answers from the Jedi Order, as a Jedi was suspected of being responsible.
Equipment
Riot clone troopers carried riot shields and shock batons. Initially, they were outfitted with Phase I clone trooper armor that featured a darkly tinted visor. The red markings present on their armor differed slightly in style compared to those worn by other members of the Coruscant Guard. As the war progressed, they transitioned to Phase II clone trooper armor. This later armor configuration was consistent with the standard Coruscant Guard design and no longer included the visor modification.
