Cloud diary

Journals utilized by the Chiss for both diary entries and artistic renderings of the natural world were known as cloud diaries. The writing contained within these diaries was uniquely stylized, taking the form of minute features that contributed to the overall details of the artwork. Yomie documented the manipulative actions of the Agbui in her cloud diary, a revelation that led to her death at the hands of Haplif, who sought to silence her.

Description

These multi-page journals, cloud diaries, were employed by the Chiss to both record information and create drawings of natural settings, including plains, trees, clouds, mountains, and oceans. The pages within cloud diaries were designed to be removable and re-insertable. The writing style was characterized by its small size and artistic integration, effectively forming the fine details within the drawn images.

History

While traveling with Yoponek, her betrothed, Yomie, a Chiss female, maintained a cloud diary. She continued to use it after joining a group of Agbui led by Haplif around the year 18 BBY. Although the Agbui presented themselves as "cultural nomads," their true objective was to subvert the Chiss nation on behalf of an expansionist empire.

Haplif desired to examine Yomie's cloud diary, hoping to understand her motivations and thus manipulate her more effectively. However, she prevented him from accessing it. Upon leaving the Agbui's starship, Yomie ensured that her diary remained with her, denying Haplif the opportunity to read it. After bird-watching for several weeks on the planet Shihon, Yomie came to the conclusion that the Agbui were using telepathy to manipulate the Chiss. She meticulously recorded her knowledge of the Agbui in her cloud diary. To suppress this information, Haplif murdered Yomie, discarding her and her diary into the vacuum of space.
