The Con Star Mining Corporation functioned as a major mining entity across the entire galaxy in the era preceding the Battle of Endor. A century before the New Republic Era, a nuclear catastrophe prompted Con Star to desert the once-thriving mining planet of Parnassos, leaving its inhabitants to struggle for survival in a primitive state. They remained in operation by the time of the New Republic.
Approximately in 162 BBY, Con Star Mining Corporation founded settlements and mines on the world Parnassos, safeguarded by a defense grid. Following a nuclear accident at one of their installations, the colonies were deserted, plunging the indigenous population into poverty.
In 24 ABY, First Order soldiers under the command of General Brendol Hux experienced a crash landing on the planet. Phasma, a warrior, aided their escape, and Hux suggested that the First Order would hold the corporation accountable for its desertion.
