Crest was a sergeant in the stormtrooper corps of the Galactic Empire during its reign, having previously served as a clone trooper. This male human was cloned from the genetic material of Jango Fett, a bounty hunter whose template was used to create the Grand Army of the Republic. As a soldier of the Galactic Republic, Crest participated in the Clone Wars. Despite continuing his military service under the New Order, his rapid aging made his superior, the Sith Lord Darth Vader, question his dependability.
Crest, the [clone trooper](/article/clone_trooper], was one of many genetically identical soldiers in an army bred from the template of Jango Fett, a human bounty hunter, to fight for the Galactic Republic. Following his service in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, Crest transitioned into the role of a stormtrooper within the Galactic Empire.
Crest was part of a stormtrooper detachment that accompanied [Darth Vader](/article/anakin_skywalker], the Sith Lord, and Moff Wilhuff Tarkin on a mission to Murkhana. At this time, he held the rank of sergeant. Crest went with Vader and Tarkin as they looked into a building containing old Separatist contraband. However, while they were doing this, their vessel, the Carrion Spike, was taken over. The guards and two crew members were killed, and Vader was not happy with Crest for letting it happen. To acquire a new vessel, Vader and Tarkin forced a local Sugi crime boss to give them his ship by threatening to destroy his warehouse with his family inside. The sergeant and his troopers took control of the warehouse, and later secured the crime lord's ship when he gave in to the pressure and gave it up to the Imperials.
While pursuing the Carrion Spike on the crime lord's ship, Crest and his troopers worked as gunners. Despite their efforts, the unit was unable to stop the Spike's repeated attacks on Imperial sites, and they eventually ended up on the Liberator, a Venator-class Star Destroyer. By that point, only Crest and six troopers remained of Vader's original group that was on Murkhana. Later, they joined a task force led by the Executrix, an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, which Tarkin took as his flagship. Crest, who had been promoted to lieutenant by Vader, was with the Dark Lord on a picket ship. However, their planned ambush for the Spike did not work. He later informed Vader and Tarkin about the capture of a freighter during the ambush, which he believed was connected to the hijackers of the Spike.
Later, Lieutenant Crest went with Vader aboard the Conquest, a Secutor-class Star Destroyer that served as the command vessel of Vice Admiral Dodd Rancit. Vader told Rancit that he knew he was the traitor who helped those who stole the Spike, and gave them information to carry out attacks on Imperial targets. Vader ordered Crest and his men to lock Rancit in an escape pod and launch it a safe distance away; the treacherous admiral was then forced to give the fleet a fire order that destroyed him for his disloyalty.
