Featuring a vertical design, the command and control areas of the Crimson Axe were situated at the uppermost part of the structure. Its hull possessed significant armor plating and a wedge-like shape. A common tactic involved ramming other vehicles to board them or render them inoperable.
It contained multiple hangars, with the primary hangar positioned at the front of the craft. This main hangar was secured by reinforced doors. The secondary hangars faced the rear and were located on the decks beneath the main engines. Despite Rav's claims of the Crimson Axe's continued functionality, its operational status after being grounded within the sarlacc pit on Socorro remains uncertain.
The Bloody Bones pirates utilized the Crimson Axe to execute assaults on various ships and settlements scattered throughout the Outer Rim. Additionally, it served as a means to pillage conquered military installations or scavenge through the wreckage resulting from large-scale space engagements.
Notably, this was the very ship that discovered Cade Skywalker adrift in space above Ossus in the aftermath of the Massacre at Ossus occurring in 130 ABY. Skywalker, along with Jariah Syn, served as members of Rav's pirate crew aboard this vessel.
By the year 137 ABY, the Axe had been repurposed into a static operational center, situated within an ancient sarlacc pit located high above the Killee Wasteland of Socorro. During that year, Syn, Skywalker, and Deliah Blue delivered gambler Naxy Screeger and Jedi Hosk Trey'lis to the Axe, handing them over to Rav in exchange for the bounty placed on their heads.
