Crodium

Crodium was a maroon-colored substance suitable for use in the construction of lightsabers.

In the year 14 BBY, Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan, journeyed to Kashyyyk, specifically the area of Kyyyalstaad Falls, where he came across some crodium. He obtained it with the intention of using it to modify the lightsaber that once belonged to his former master, Jedi Master Jaro Tapal. Jaro Tapal had gifted the lightsaber to Cal shortly before his death during the events of Order 66 in 19 BBY.

In 3 ABY, arrangements were made for three crodium shipments to be delivered to the moon of Toshara. The Pyke Syndicate ultimately handled the transportation of this cargo as a bribe intended for the Imperial governor named Thorden. This delivery was recorded within shipment log #459, which was stored on a datapad located on Fuel Station Visavi, a station positioned in orbit around Toshara.

The outlaw Kay Vess managed to infiltrate Fuel Station Visavi, where she accessed and read the datapad while simultaneously avoiding capture by Imperial forces.

Behind the scenes

Within the current Star Wars canon, crodium made its initial appearance in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which was developed by Respawn Entertainment. In this game, it serves as one of twenty-four materials that players can gather to alter the visual appearance of Cal Kestis' lightsaber. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, crodium was a metal that was first introduced in 2006 in Legacy of the Force: Tempest, a novel written by Troy Denning and the third installment in the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series. Its first visual depiction occurred in the 2010 massively multiplayer online game Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, which was developed by Sony Online Entertainment.
