Dareg was a male Human who acted as a leader within the Mantellian Separatist Movement. Furthermore, he commanded the Separatist stronghold located within Mount Avilatan, a live volcano situated on the island of Avilatan, which itself was part of Ord Mantell during the era known as the Cold War. Notably, Dareg harbored a strong dislike for non-Human species.
During the time of the Cold War, Dareg, a male Human, came to possess a droid through his family's inheritance. This droid contained records of credits legally owed to House Teraan, a Royal family from Alderaan who had lost the droid to pirates. The extent of Dareg's knowledge about the droid's true nature remains uncertain. Living on Ord Mantell, Dareg grew increasingly dissatisfied with the Galactic Republic and the Ord Mantell Central Authority due to perceived corruption and oppression of the Ord Mantell people. Consequently, he joined the Mantellian Separatist Movement and rose to become a significant figure within its leadership.
In the course of the Separatist War, Dareg led a legion of soldiers from a Separatist stronghold nestled in the heart of Mount Avilatan, a volcano. He was known to have secret dealings with Skavak. At one point, Dareg arranged a meeting with Skavak to secure a shipment of blasters initially destined for the Crime lord Rogun the Butcher, while Syreena warned Dareg about a smuggler pursuing Skavak for a stolen ship. However, Skavak betrayed Dareg and his movement to steal the droid Dareg inherited, a move that puzzled Morant, who had only been with Dareg for a few months and considered the droid old and worthless. By the time the smuggler infiltrated the Separatist base and confronted Dareg and his men, Skavak had already fled. Dareg retaliated by attacking the smuggler, but he was killed in the ensuing conflict, leaving Morant alive to reveal Skavak's whereabouts. The smuggler continued his pursuit of Skavak, who escaped to Coruscant before the smuggler could capture him.
Dareg, a muscular Human with brown hair and eyes, was a fanatical believer in the Separatist Movement. He viewed its members as courageous "brothers in arms" and "executioners of justice" fighting for the people of Ord Mantell, whom he believed were oppressed by their corrupt planetary government. Viidu, conversely, regarded him as a psychopath.
Dareg refused to negotiate with the Smuggler for Skavak's location because of the members killed. Morant felt that the deaths could have been avoided if Dareg had simply revealed Skavak's betrayal.
Dareg makes his first appearance in the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. He is featured as an enemy Boss NPC in the Smuggler storyline, whom the player must defeat to progress and then converse with Morant.
Dialogue discovered through datamining indicates that Dareg would have used a different opening line if the Smuggler were an alien; however, this line is not actually used in the game.
