Viidu

Viidu, also known by the moniker King of Cargo, was a male Human residing on the planet of Ord Mantell during the time of the Cold War. During this period of conflict, he operated a freight business named Rendia Freight, with his main office situated within Fort Garnik, a stronghold controlled by the Republic. There was a time when Viidu contracted a smuggler by the name of Ace to transport a shipment of weaponry to him on Ord Mantell. However, the cargo, along with Ace's spacecraft, was pilfered by Skavak, who was an employee of Rendia Freight, for the benefit of the local Separatist movement. Given that the weapons belonged to a highly dangerous crime lord known as Rogun the Butcher, Viidu dedicated all his resources to recovering them. He enlisted Ace's help and utilized his own employee, Corso Riggs, to locate Skavak and retrieve the blasters. Eventually, Ace and Corso tracked the blasters to the Separatists' primary fortress located in Mount Avilatan and attempted to recover them under Viidu's directives. However, while the two were away, Viidu was murdered by his girlfriend, Syreena, who was secretly having an affair with Skavak.

Biography

Viidu was a male Human who existed during the era of the Cold War, a period of hostility between the reconstituted Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. During this war, Viidu made his home on the planet of Ord Mantell, which was under Republic control and located within the Bright Jewel system of the Mid Rim. While residing on Ord Mantell, Viidu was the proprietor of a freight transportation enterprise known as Rendia Freight, which he managed from its headquarters within the Republic's Fort Garnik fortress. To manage this company, he had a team of employees, including his then-girlfriend, Syreena, who served as his personal assistant.

At some point, Rendia Freight accepted a contract under Viidu's direction to transport a consignment of Blaster rifles for the notorious crime lord of the Chagrian species, Rogun the Butcher. Rendia Freight contracted a smuggler known as Ace to deliver the blasters to Ord Mantell on their vessel, with the delivery point being Drelliad village, a small settlement near Garnik. Ace successfully delivered the blasters to Corso Riggs and Skavak, two of Viidu's employees, on the outskirts of Drelliad. However, upon delivery, Skavak stole the blasters and Ace's ship while the smuggler was away dismantling a remote control station for an anti-air cannon operated by members of the Mantellian Separatist Movement in the nearby village. Skavak incapacitated Riggs with the assistance of several Separatists who attacked the hangar to facilitate the theft.

Upon discovering the theft of the blasters, Viidu became immensely concerned due to Rogan's reputation for violence, fearing that he would be held responsible for the loss. Determined to recover the blasters, Viidu hired the smuggler, who was stranded on Ord Mantell without a ship, to assist in tracking down Skavak. Skavak had previously informed the smuggler of his intention to provide the blasters to the Mantellian Separatists, who were engaged in a civil war with the Republic on Ord Mantell. Consequently, Viidu dispatched Ace to locate an old acquaintance named Reki. Viidu believed Reki possessed expertise on the Separatists and could provide information on Skavak's whereabouts. Therefore, he provided the smuggler with a survival pack of supplies to exchange with Reki, who was trapped in Talloran village due to the Separatist occupation and a Republic blockade.

Viidu enjoyed the luxury lifestyle even as the war raged on Ord Mantell.

The smuggler successfully located Reki and learned about a database containing details of all Separatist personnel, which was stored on the island of Mannett Point. Upon returning to Garnik, the smuggler shared this information with Viidu and Riggs. Viidu then explained Riggs' history with the Separatists, whom he harbored resentment towards for the murder of his family. Subsequently, Syreena informed Viidu that Rogun the Butcher was attempting to contact him, prompting him to rush off to speak with the crime lord, instructing the Smuggler to download all data from the database in his absence. Rogun informed Viidu that he would hold him personally accountable for the loss of the blasters.

Upon Ace's return from Mannett Point, having successfully retrieved the data, Viidu expressed gratitude to the smuggler and stated that he would have Corso decode the information. Still apprehensive due to Rogun's message, Viidu requested the smuggler to stall Rogun by completing the Big Boom Run, a smuggling mission to a scientist named Trymbo in Oradam village to retrieve chemicals capable of 'super-charging' Republic cannons. He believed that Rogun could sell this to the Republic for a substantial amount of credits, thereby appeasing him and buying them time. While the smuggler departed for Oradam, Viidu and Corso successfully located Skavak in the database and discovered that he planned to meet the Separatist leader named Dareg at the Separatist stronghold situated in Mount Avilatan. Upon Ace's return, Viidu was overjoyed by the smuggler's success and revealed the final phase of the plan to retrieve the blasters, which involved Ace and Riggs ambushing Skavak in the volcano stronghold and seizing the blasters from him. However, at the stronghold, Ace and Riggs discovered that Skavak had betrayed the Separatists and stolen a droid from Dareg instead of providing them with the blasters.

After Riggs and Ace departed, Viidu remained at the Rendia Freight building in Fort Garnik. During their absence, he caught Syreena contacting the Separatists and threatened to turn her over to Rogun the Butcher. Syreena, who was having an affair with Skavak and had been deceiving him all along, murdered him in his own office to prevent him from informing Rogun of her involvement.

Legacy

Upon Riggs and Ace's return, they discovered Syreena communicating with Skavak via holo, who expressed disappointment at her having killed Viidu. Skavak then revealed that he would not be taking Syreena with him off Ord Mantell. When Ace confronted her, Syreena attempted to conceal her role in Viidu's murder but eventually confessed when Ace revealed that they had overheard the conversation. She informed them that Skavak had gone to Coruscant. Ace and Riggs spared Syreena, who went into hiding, and Riggs decided to accompany Ace in hunting down Skavak, revealing that Viidu had left him various possessions which he would share with Ace. The pair later received a posthumous message from Viidu, created before his death in anticipation of being killed by Rogun or the Separatists. In his message, Viidu requested that Ace look after Corso and Syreena. Ace and Riggs proceeded to retrieve the Smuggler's ship and defeat Skavak in a race to find the lost treasure of Nok Drayen, ultimately killing Skavak and forging an alliance with Rogun in the process.

Personality and traits

Viidu was an intelligent and influential figure with considerable power on Ord Mantell. He had a fondness for drinking and eating, the latter of which he indulged in particularly when anxious, and also possessed an appreciation for artwork, which he collected. Viidu displayed great affection for his partner Syreena, requesting Ace to care for her after his death, but was prepared to turn her over to Rogun the Butcher upon discovering her treachery. Due to his age, Viidu may have experienced health issues, as Syreena would often remind him to remain calm, as excitement was detrimental to his heart.

Behind the scenes
