Darima Kedari, a Klatooinian of the male persuasion, held the esteemed position of Chancellor within the Klatooinian Council of Elders. Earlier in his life, he engaged in gambling, which led him to cross paths with Lando Calrissian, but he later abandoned this lifestyle. A crisis befell him in 44 ABY when Sith forces launched an attack on the revered Fountain of the Ancients. The Hutts, obligated by the treaty to safeguard the Fountain, intervened and halted the Sith assault. Subsequently, Darima requested that Calrissian and Jedi Knight Jaina Solo, who had recently arrived in the system, serve as mediators in the dispute. After careful consideration of all perspectives, Solo and Calrissian determined that the Sith, led by Vyn Holpur, were culpable for the attack and damage inflicted upon the Fountain, resulting in a death sentence for Holpur and his followers. They also concluded that the Hutts' protection of the Fountain had been inadequate. Nevertheless, they also ruled that the Hutts had not breached the treaty, citing their weakened state following the Yuuzhan Vong War, which rendered them incapable of preventing the sudden attack, and that they had acted with maximum efficiency. This judgment, however, failed to quell the unrest, as Klatooinians throughout the planet initiated a revolt against the Hutts, leading Kedari to concede that any prospect of peaceful resolution had vanished.
