Darth Nihl's predecessor

A member of the One Sith, a Sith served as the predecessor to Darth Nihl, the Sith Lord who held the position of the Hand of the Dark Lord of the Sith and leader of the One Sith, Darth Krayt. This individual was involved in a massacre that occurred on the planet of Ossus circa 130 ABY, an event during which they perished. Following this massacre, Nihl was appointed as the new Hand because Darth Talon, who was originally intended to succeed the previous Hand, was not yet prepared for the role.

Seven years later, Darth Maladi, a Sith Lady, drew Nihl's attention to the fact that Darth Talon, unlike the Sith Lord, had been a Sith from birth, which explained Krayt's clear favoritism towards her. The Sith Lady further explained that Nihl only assumed the role of Hand after the predecessor's untimely death because Talon was not yet ready to take on the responsibility.

Behind the scenes

The fifteenth issue of the Star Wars: Legacy comic series mentioned the predecessor. This issue was written by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, and it was released by Dark Horse Comics on August 8, 2007. Ostrander clarified in a forum post that the Hand died at Ossus during the massacre, which led to Nihl being chosen as their replacement. He also stated that no further details about Nihl's predecessor are publicly available and will remain so until they become relevant to a future storyline.
