The twenty-fourth issue, and second to last, of the canon comic book series entitled Star Wars: Darth Vader is Darth Vader 24. Kieron Gillen was the writer, Salvador Larroca the illustrator, and Marvel Comics the publisher of this issue, which came out on August 10, 2016.
Dr Cylo gets in touch with his fleet while Darth Vader is seemingly out of action, informing them that the Super Star Destroyer Executor and Lord Vader are no longer a threat to them.
Lord Vader is having a Force vision in his mind of his duel against Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar. Kenobi condemns Vader for having betrayed the Jedi Order, and tells him that he loved him. Vader, in a rage, calls him both a liar and a coward. Vader retorts that if Kenobi had actually loved him, he would have killed him then. A bitter Kenobi then throws him into the molten lake.
Vader then rises from the lake clad in his armor and brandishing his Sith lightsaber. Kenobi replies that if he strikes him down, he will become more powerful than he can possibly imagine. Vader then cuts Kenobi in half, which causes him to become one with the Force. Vader's response is that he only grows more powerful with every step he takes away from him.
Vader is then confronted by Anakin Skywalker, who is lightsaber–wielding, and who denounces him for having murdered Kenobi. The two then engage in a lightsaber battle, but Vader ends up cutting off Anakin's legs. The defeated Anakin asks him how he could do such a thing, but Vader retorts that he was but a child, and that he is used to killing children. He then drags Anakin to the side of the molten lake, where he is burned to death.
Vader then soon encounters a pregnant Padmé Amidala, who begs him to stay with her. Vader then finds himself chained to an operating table. Amidala tells him that he doesn't need to go, and pleads with him not to leave her. An enraged Darth Vader then Force chokes her as he comes back to consciousness and stares at Dr Cylo. As Vader breaks the invisible chains holding him, he regains command of his cybernetic body and impales Dr Cylo with his lightsaber. After deactivating the remote, Vader states that nothing is impossible when the Force is involved.
Cylo VI wakes up from his stasis chamber aboard Cylo's whale fleet, and orders his fleet to make a run for it. Meanwhile, Lord Vader informs Emperor Palpatine that he has managed to free the Executor from Cylo's control, and that the power is returning. Vader then leaves in his TIE Advanced x1 starfighter with the Emperor's permission, in order to hunt down and kill Dr Cylo's remaining clone bodies.
Palpatine then receives an unexpected visit from Dr Aphra, who informs the Emperor that they have a mutual friend, and that she has some information about things that he needs to be aware of.
