Senate Defense Council
The Senate Defense Council functioned as a council inside the framework of the New Republic. Approximately around 9 ABY, this Council, with Senator Leia Organa at its head, requested General Hera Syndulla to provide them with information about the escape of the detainee Morgan Elsbeth from the New Republic's detention.
Organization and structure
Within the structure of the New Republic government, the Senate Defense Council acted as a military council, ultimately accountable to the New Republic Senate. General Leia Organa oversaw the council, possessing authority over its constituents, though Chancellor Mon Mothma was also able to preside. Senators and officers from the New Republic Defense Force were permitted to participate in its meetings, which took place inside the Defense Council building situated within a skyscraper complex on Coruscant. Admiral Gial Ackbar of the New Republic Defense Fleet, Senators Hamato Xiono and Mawood, as well as a Sullustan person, also attended and co-chaired those sessions.
