The specialized rocket stormtroopers, also called rocket launcher stormtroopers or Demolition Troopers, were a type of stormtrooper who carried substantial, shoulder-mounted missile launchers. These weapons enabled them to inflict damage on vehicles and structures from a considerable distance.
These stormtroopers employed missile launchers, for instance the RPS-6 rocket launcher or Smart Rockets. Their training focused on suppressing insurgent activities, quelling rebellions, and eliminating dissent by providing support on the ground. Despite their effectiveness, these weapons necessitated reloading after each shot, which made them susceptible to attack. Some armor's right shoulder plate of a rocket stormtrooper displayed a red symbol.
Rocket stormtroopers were deployed on Zeffo, at the Imperial Refinery located on Kashyyyk, on Ilum, and within the Fortress Inquisitorius situated on Nur during the fifth year of the Jedi Purge. At these locations, they encountered and were ultimately defeated by Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan. Some time following the Battle of Endor, Demolition troopers were positioned at Chinook Station on the planet Bespin, where they engaged in a skirmish against members of Inferno Squad. Furthermore, Demolition troopers took part in the decisive Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY.
