RPS-6 rocket launcher

The RPS-6 rocket launcher, alternatively referred to as the Sienar shoulder-launched missile, represented a missile launcher design jointly produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. together with Sienar Fleet Systems.

Description

The RPS-6 rocket launcher was designed to be relatively light and easily carried, rendering it suitable for use by agile infantry squads. Its targeting apparatus could interface with a clone trooper's helmet heads-up display, and each launcher included a magazine containing six small, yet potent missiles. The launcher also possessed the capability to launch both homing missiles and incendiary missiles.

History

Clone Wars

Jek preparing to fire an RPS-6 rocket launcher

The RPS-6 served as the principal type of man-portable, shoulder-fired rocket launcher employed within the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the duration of the Clone Wars. During the Ambush on Rugosa, Clone Lieutenant Thire discharged a rocket from an RPS-6 rocket launcher in order to trigger a rockslide, thereby eliminating a contingent of droidekas that were attacking Jedi Grand Master Yoda. It also saw use by IG-100 MagnaGuards. The Royal Naboo Security Forces stationed on the world of Naboo also deployed the launcher against a droid patrol.

During the Battle of Umbara, clone troopers belonging to the 501st Legion utilized these rocket launchers against the Umbaran Militia's Impeding Assault Tanks, which were equipped with ray shield technology. However, they proved to be ineffective against the Umbaran mobile heavy cannons.

Several RPS-6 units also fell into the possession of the Separatist Droid Army, where a BX-series droid commando employed one to create an opening in the Nightsister lair.

During the Clone Wars era, Anakin Skywalker compensated Hondo Ohnaka for the delivery of multiple crates containing rocket launchers to Onderon, intended for utilization by the rebels against the HMP droid gunships during the Battle of Onderon. Following the delivery of ten rocket launchers, Saw, Steela, along with several members of the Onderon rebels, employed them to destroy the remaining gunships.

During the Battle of Scipio, members of the Coruscant Guard carried three launchers to eliminate several Hyena-class bombers.

Imperial Era

One member of the Onderon rebels was carrying an RPS-6, but accidentally fired it when they were ambushed by the Empire's new Elite Squad.

The B1-series battle droids present within the Desix Separatist holdout made use of these launchers.

The Galactic Empire's rocket stormtroopers were outfitted with them.

Former Clone commando Gregor utilized an RPS-6 to bring down an Imperial TIE/ln space superiority starfighter. Gobi Glie employed an RPS-6 during an operation to recover the Syndulla Kalikori. Captain Slavin instructed his forces to position rocket launchers around the Ghost, however, during their escape, Kanan Jarrus redirected a rocket back towards one of the walkers. Marida Sumar, a member of the Lothal resistance group, employed an RPS-6 to inflict damage upon an Imperial Troop Transport and struck the foreleg of the AT-AT walker that was crushing the Jedi rebels' AT-DP walker. Captain Garazeb Orrelios used one to take out a AT-DP walker on Atollon.
