The specialized rocket stormtroopers, also known as Demolition Troopers or rocket launcher stormtroopers, were a type of stormtrooper who utilized sizable, shoulder-mounted missile launchers. These weapons enabled them to inflict damage upon vehicles and structures from considerable distances.
Stormtroopers equipped with rocket launchers, such as the RPS-6 rocket launcher or Smart Rockets, received training in the suppression of insurgent activities, the quelling of uprisings, and the silencing of dissent, thereby providing support on the ground. Despite their effectiveness, their weaponry necessitated reloading after each shot, leaving them in a state of vulnerability. Some armor's right shoulder plate of the rocket stormtroopers featured a red marking.
During the fifth year following the Jedi Purge, rocket stormtroopers found themselves stationed on locations like Zeffo, the Imperial Refinery situated on Kashyyyk, Ilum, and the Fortress Inquisitorius located on Nur. It was here that they encountered and were ultimately defeated by Cal Kestis, the Jedi Padawan. Sometime after the Battle of Endor, Demolition troopers were stationed at Chinook Station on the planet Bespin where they became engaged in a skirmish against members of Inferno Squad. Furthermore, Demolition troopers participated in the decisive Battle of Jakku which took place in 5 ABY.
