Ding was a domesticated kusak that resided on Lok during the era of the Galactic Civil War. Following the Battle of Yavin, this animal was a member of a group of ten kusaks, which included Bedhead, Blinky, Scarecrow, Slobbers, Troubles, Wart Face, Gargle, Runt, and Speedbump. These kusaks were trained by the Lok Revenants to serve as guards for Nym's Stronghold. In the year 1 ABY, an adventurer attempted to feed the creature with Lokkian weed. Because Ding only enjoyed a specific type of weed, the adventurer was required to gather and test various plants to identify the one that Ding preferred.
Ding made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. Ding was integrated into the game as a component of the updated "Nym's Theme Park," which was launched alongside "Game Update 16," on March 23, 2010.
This particular kusak was part of the "Caring for the Kusaks" collection. Each time a player completed the "Weed Whacker Foliage Requisition" quest, they received one of ten distinct varieties of Lokian weed as a reward. These weeds could be used to feed the kusaks; however, each of the ten individual kusaks located in or near the stronghold would only accept one specific, randomly selected type of weed.
