Prior to the blockade of Naboo, Dool Pundar, a Neimoidian captain within the Trade Federation navy, abandoned his post, becoming a pirate kingpin. During the Clone Wars period, he faced off against Breakout Squad, ultimately leading to his capture.
Before his life of piracy, Dool Pundar, a male Neimoidian, served as the captain of the Profit, a Lucrehulk-class battleship within the Trade Federation fleet. As the Invasion of Naboo commenced in 32 BBY, he and some allies aboard his vessel transmitted a false distress signal, altered their trajectory, and sought refuge within a nebula far from his superiors' reach. Utilizing reprogrammed battle droids, Pundar and his loyalists rounded up the remaining Trade Federation loyalists among the crew and forced them into an airlock, ejecting them into space. With his own force consisting of small support ships and battle droids, Pundar established himself as a pirate leader.
Following the conclusion of the Naboo blockade, Trade Federation forces were unable to locate Pundar's "missing" vessel. His betrayal was uncovered several months later, after he orchestrated several rapid and profitable raids on heavily used hyperspace routes, acquiring additional ships, crew, and resources. His forces included more than one hundred Vulture droids and a number of YT-1300 light freighters. Pundar managed to evade capture by fleets dispatched by both the Galactic Republic and the Trade Federation, as well as numerous bounty hunters.

In 21 BBY, near Shipwrights' Trace, he seized a freighter that belonged to Noggox the Hutt. Pundar showed mercy by allowing the crew to escape in an escape pod. Later, at the bidding of Count Dooku, Pundar and his ship ambushed Noggox's remaining freighter, which was transporting droid brains, at Fondor. Pundar deployed a dozen Vulture starfighters to attack. The freighter, piloted by the young Jedi Nuru Kungurama, was intentionally crashed into the pirate ship, enabling Kungurama to apprehend Pundar. The Neimoidian captain instructed his crew to abandon ship, and he fled to Foless aboard a cruiser. The Profit was seized by Fondor Shipyards personnel. On Foless, he landed outside the spaceport to remain undetected. He intended to meet with his associate Kuvuta Pindi, who had abducted orphaned children for use as slaves. Kungurama and his ally Gizz had agreed to transport Pindi, disguised as the orphans' blind handler, to Foless, but the Jedi became suspicious and pursued Pindi. He crashed into her airbus, which Pundar was piloting, causing it to crash. Subsequently, Breakout Squad took Pundar into custody, while Pindi suffered death.
Dool Pundar was a prime example of a pirate lord, being both ruthless and a highly skilled tactician. Like others of his kind, he was driven by greed, but he displayed unusual courage and a willingness to take risks in pursuit of wealth and territory. He used death as a threat to those who resisted, but also showed mercy at times.
The character of Dool Pundar made his debut in a Wizards.com Bounty Postings article titled "Dool Pundar: Pirate Lord". He later appeared in the 2011 comic The Clone Wars: Strange Allies.
