Dor'shan was situated on Dorin, a planet in the Expansion Region. This world, the homeworld of the Kel Dor species, possessed an atmosphere rich in helium. An orchard owned by a Kel Dor sat just outside Dor'shan. This orchard was visited by Strono Tuggs, the Artiodac chef, during his culinary tour of the galaxy between 34 ABY and 35 ABY. Later, Tuggs referenced Dor'shan in The Ultimate Cookbook, his third cookbook, which saw publication in 35 ABY.
Within current Star Wars canon, Dor'shan is referenced in Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a 2023 recipe book penned by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The location initially appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity. Its first mention was in Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition Core Rulebook, a 2007 rulebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game released by Wizards of the Coast. It subsequently featured in Fate of the Jedi: Outcast, a 2009 novel by Aaron Allston that served as the initial installment of the Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi series.
