The true identity of Chainbreaker was a closely guarded secret, leading most to believe she was a Wookiee herself. She served as the captain of the gunship called Liswarr, commanding it alongside various Wookiee clans. In the year 3 ABY, the bounty hunter Bossk successfully located the Liswarr and infiltrated the vessel. Bossk advanced to the bridge, with the intention of capturing Chainbreaker. During their confrontation, she revealed their shared origin as clutchmates, ultimately persuading him to cease his pursuit of Wookiees.
Chainbreaker, the female Trandoshan, shared a clutch with her clutchmate, Bossk. Upon hatching, Bossk consumed the eggs of his unborn siblings, including the one containing Chainbreaker. Their father, Cradossk, consistently asserted that Bossk had devoured all the eggs, but Chainbreaker secretly survived, although with a crippling injury. Cradossk bartered her damaged egg to Liswarr'arindoo in exchange for a bottle of Kowakian rum. The Wookiee then gave the hatchling the name Doshanalawook and raised her within her clan as a Wookiee.
Following the rise of the Galactic Empire and its subsequent occupation of Kashyyyk, Doshanalawook took on the role of captain of the Liswarr, a Wookiee gunship, working alongside the Chyakk, Koom, and Gkrur clans to resist Imperial rule and liberate enslaved Wookiees. She garnered widespread acclaim among the Wookiees as a liberator, earning the title Chainbreaker. As Chainbreaker, she concealed her Trandoshan identity from almost everyone, including the numerous bounty hunters who sought her capture. Most believed her to be a mysterious and exceptionally skilled Wookiee outlaw.
In 3 ABY, Bossk, now a bounty hunter, tracked the Liswarr to the Rycep Belt. He gained access to the ship through its airlock and proceeded toward the bridge. Rutallaroo and other Wookiees aboard attempted to impede Bossk's progress but were ultimately defeated. Bossk entered the bridge and confronted Chainbreaker, who was seated in the dark within a mechno-chair. Bossk quickly discerned that Chainbreaker was not a Wookiee but, in fact, a female Trandoshan. She revealed their shared origin as clutchmates, explaining that when Bossk devoured her egg, he had failed to kill his sister. She further recounted how she was given to Liswarr'arindoo and raised as a Wookiee named Doshanalawook. Bossk attempted to flee the bridge but found himself trapped. In exchange for his freedom and a private message from Lieutenant Masil Veit, Bossk reluctantly consented to abandon his pursuit of Wookiees.
