Clutch was a Trandoshan male who engaged in big game hunting. He belonged to a hunting guild that specifically pursued sentient beings as prey on Wasskah's moon. In the year 20 BBY, Clutch worked as a pilot on the guild's Trandoshan prisoner transport. During an operation to secure more targets for the hunt, Clutch and his co-pilot Goron successfully captured the Wookiee, Chewbacca.
However, while attempting to land the captive on Island Four, Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi padawan who had previously been captured, launched an assault on the Trandoshan freighter alongside two other Jedi prisoners, hoping to escape. Tano infiltrated the cockpit and engaged Clutch in a duel. Clutch's shotgun fire ended up damaging the cockpit controls and causing the computer systems to malfunction. This damage resulted in the ship plummeting towards the beach on the island, killing both Clutch and Goron.

A Trandoshan male who served as a pilot, Clutch was a member of Garnac's Hunting Guild, which was led by the Trandoshan Garnac. This guild, composed exclusively of Trandoshans, captured prey from across the galaxy, particularly sentient beings, though not exclusively, and transported them to the moon of Wasskah. There, the prey were released and then hunted by the Trandoshans for sport. Clutch sometimes piloted the Trandoshan prisoner ship to capture targets for the guild.
In 20 BBY, during the year, Garnac's son, Dar, was preparing to join the guild as a full member. Clutch participated in a hunt on the day of Dar's initiation and later attended the ceremony, where he cheered for Dar as the young hunter was inducted. However, the very next day, Dar was killed by Ahsoka Tano, the captured Jedi Padawan, during his first hunt.
On one occasion, Clutch and his co-pilot Goron took the Reugot freighter to find more prey, departing from Wasskah. They succeeded in capturing the Wookiee Chewbacca and returned to Wasskah with their single prisoner. By this time, Tano had joined forces with O-Mer and Jinx, the stranded Jedi younglings. Desperate to escape the moon, the Jedi decided to directly attack the freighter and overwhelm its crew.
As Clutch piloted the ship toward Island Four, Tano appeared on the ship's windshield. Surprised, Clutch ordered Goron to deal with her. However, while walking on the ship's hull, Goron was distracted by O-Mer and Jinx, who had also climbed onto the ship. With Goron occupied, Tano managed to sneak inside. Clutch, aware of the padawan's presence, pretended to be unaware as she approached from behind. Finally, Clutch spun around in his pilot seat, shotgun in hand, and began firing at the Jedi. Tano either dodged the shots or used the Force to deflect Clutch's aim, resulting in significant damage to the cockpit's controls and computer panels. The damage caused the ship's power to fluctuate, and it began to fall towards the ground.

Clutch attempted to attack Tano again, but the Jedi used telekenesis to throw Clutch through the ship's windshield, killing him. Meanwhile, Goron had fallen to his death from the ship, and the ship crashed onto Island Four's beach soon after. The Jedi rescued Chewbacca, who had survived the crash, and fled back into the island's jungle. The Trandoshans found Clutch and Goron the next day. Krix and Ratter pulled Clutch's body from the wreckage. Clutch's death led Lo-Taren to believe that the Jedi were becoming more audacious in their escape attempts.
Lo-Taren's suspicion was confirmed when the Jedi, with Wookiee reinforcements, attacked and destroyed the hunting guild.

Clutch was a golden-scaled, stocky Trandoshan with orange eyes who was enthusiastic about Garnac's announcement of the new hunt. As he prepared for his final hunt on Wasskah, Clutch cheered by hooting, raising his arms, grabbing his weapon, and heading to Wasskah's surface. Clutch was happy among his peers during Dar's initiation ceremony and enthusiastically chanted the young hunter's name along with the other Trandoshans.
During the Jedi attack on the Reugot freighter, Clutch took charge and issued orders to repel the attack. He also demonstrated patience and a talent for ambush when he pretended to ignore Tano's sneak attack before spinning around in his pilot seat, shotgun in hand, to shoot the Jedi. However, he was unable to defeat Tano and was killed by her. Clutch referred to the Jedi as "whelps."
As a pilot for the guild, Clutch commanded their Trandoshan prisoner ship, easily identifiable as guild property due to the custom "teeth" paint job on the ship's nose, during missions to capture prey. In combat, Clutch used either a blaster or a shotgun.
Clutch wore gray fatigues during Garnac's Jedi hunt, including a gray jacket with yellow geometric tactical lining on the sleeves and hinting shapes. He had a small pouch strapped to his left arm and wore an electronically powered gauntlet on his other wrist.

Clutch was one of several Trandoshan characters created for the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes "Padawan Lost" and "Wookiee Hunt," which aired on April 1, 2011 as part of season three. Matt Lanter, who also voiced Anakin Skywalker, provided Clutch's voice.
Pat Presley, a concept artist, designed all of the Trandoshans in the Wasskah story arc, including Clutch. Clutch's stocky build was intentionally designed to vary the physical appearances of the Trandoshan characters. Clutch's name comes from the term for a group of eggs, "clutch."
