Jinx

Jinx, originating from the planet Ryloth, was a male Twi'lek Jedi Initiate. As part of his Jedi training, he, along with Kalifa and O-Mer, two other Jedi younglings, embarked on a mission. This mission led to their capture by hunters, who transported them to Wasskah, a moon of the Trandoshan species, to be hunted as a form of sport. Despite this, the trio managed to avoid their captors by finding refuge on an island on the moon's surface, where they established a secret base inside a hollow tree. Around 21 BBY, during the Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Padawan, was also abducted and left on the island. Her assertive attitude and encouragement to engage the hunters instilled courage in Jinx and O-Mer, leading them to decide to locate the hunters' headquarters. With Tano's assistance, the group confronted the hunters, liberating the Wookiee Chewbacca, and ultimately launching an attack on the Trandoshan floating fortress. During this assault, Jinx battled the Trandoshans on an exterior landing platform but soon found himself and his companions surrounded. Ultimately, Jinx and the others were rescued by a Wookiee team, commanded by General Tarfful, who eliminated the remaining hunters.

Biography

Early life and capture

Born on the planet Ryloth in the Outer Rim Territories, Jinx was a male Twi'lek. Before the Clone Wars began, he became a Jedi Initiate. As a part of his Jedi training, Jinx, together with fellow Jedi younglings Kalifa, a Human female, and O-Mer, a Cerean male, embarked on a training mission. During this mission, Jinx and the other younglings were taken and transported to the Trandoshan moon Wasskah, where the Trandoshans hunted them for sport. However, the three Jedi managed to evade their captors by seeking refuge among the abundant plant life of Island Four, an island located on the moon. Kalifa, who had taken on the role of leading Jinx and O-Mer, adopted a strategy of passivity, choosing to hide from the hunters to avoid detection, even if it meant the loss of other captives who had been brought to the moon by the Trandoshans for the same purpose. The Jedi established a hideout inside a hollow tree, but during the day, they remained mobile to prevent the hunters from detecting their scent. During their time on the moon, a Padawan also arrived and wanted to take action against the Trandoshans but was killed.

Engaging the hunters

Around 21 BBY, during the Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano, the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Knight, was captured by Trandoshans during the Second Battle of Felucia. She was transported to Island Four, where she encountered Jinx, Kalifa, and O-Mer. Tano joined the group and began to advocate for a more active approach against the Trandoshans, a viewpoint that her companions were initially reluctant to embrace due to Kalifa's strong opposition and the earlier death of the Padawan who acted similarly to Tano. However, Kalifa eventually acknowledged that they had been lacking strength and force, which Tano provided, leading her to accept Tano's perspective. Following a discussion in their hideout, Jinx and the group decided that their first course of action would be to locate the Trandoshan base. The following morning, O-Mer spotted the Trandoshans' floating fortress emerging from the clouds. However, an attack by two of the hunters' hover pods forced the Jedi to separate, and while Jinx and O-Mer managed to evade their pursuer, Kalifa lost her footing and fell among the branches. Garnac, the leader of the hunters, dispatched his son, Dar, to eliminate her.

After Kalifa's death, Jinx and O-Mer began to trust Tano and became more confident. The trio launched a raid on an arriving Trandoshan slave ship, destroying it, with Jinx and O-Mer engaging one of the crewmembers in unarmed combat, and freed its only captive, the Wookiee Chewbacca. The Wookiee explained that he could build a transmitter to send a signal to his homeworld, Kashyyyk, a forested world located in the same system as Wasskah, to request assistance. To obtain crucial machine parts for Chewbacca's makeshift communications device, Jinx and the team scavenged parts from the wreckage of a Trandoshan starship, capturing a sniper named Smug in the process. Jinx disagreed with the Wookiee's plan, and after the transmitter appeared to malfunction during its construction in the hideout, he and O-Mer convinced Tano and Chewbacca to use their prisoner and attack the Trandoshan base.

The next morning, Jinx used The Force to persuade the prisoner to summon a transport. When the transport pod arrived, the Jedi and Chewbacca attacked the vehicle, and O-Mer piloted it to the Trandoshan floating fortress that the hunters used as their base. They landed on an exterior platform, and a firefight broke out between them and the Trandoshans present. Despite their initial successes, Jinx and the team were soon forced to retreat due to the arrival of more hunters from inside the fortress and sought cover behind overturned hover pods. After the speeder O-Mer had commandeered was destroyed, the Trandoshans cornered them. However, the transmitter Chewbacca had built successfully sent a signal, leading to the arrival of a rescue team led by General Tarfful. The unit, composed of the General's most trusted Wookiee warriors and hired bounty hunters Sugi and Seripas, turned the tide of the battle, eliminating the remaining Trandoshans and securing the base.

Personality and traits

Jinx and O-Mer react to the news of Kalifa's death.

Jinx, a green-skinned Twi'lek male without hair, possessed brown eyes and stood at a height of 1.76 meters, equivalent to 5 feet and 9 inches. Initially optimistic, he lost this outlook due to the harsh conditions on Wasskah. Despite his desire to return to the Jedi Temple, Jinx struggled to maintain his faith in his Jedi training and trust in the Force. Jinx feared that he would be forced to spend the rest of his life hiding from the Trandoshan hunters.

Powers and abilities

Jinx possessed a natural talent in the Force. He engaged Trandoshans in unarmed combat on multiple occasions, frequently employing Force push, and was also capable of performing a mind trick on a hunter. Furthermore, he possessed excellent survival skills, which aided him in evading the hunters, navigating the challenging terrain of Wasskah, and ultimately enabled him to safely return to the Jedi Temple.

Behind the scenes

Jinx made his debut in "Padawan Lost," the twenty-first episode of the third season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, and also appeared in the subsequent episode, "Wookiee Hunt." Both episodes were broadcast on April 1, 2011. He was also featured on a card in the online supplement "Clone Cards" on StarWars.com, which provided a brief overview of his biography and included information about his physical appearance. Sunil Malhotra provided the voice for Jinx in both "Padawan Lost" and "Wookiee Hunt." In September 2011, Jinx was given an entry in the new StarWars.com Encyclopedia.
