Kalifa was once a female Human Jedi Initiate, aspiring to become a Knight within the Jedi Order during the Galactic Republic's twilight years. However, her training took a dark turn when Trandoshan hunters captured her. They transported Kalifa to Wasskah, a moon orbiting Trandosha, where she became the hunted in a relentless game.
Upon entering the academy, Kalifa joined a clan with fellow Jedi Initiates, attending classes and delving into the Jedi arts. Nearing the culmination of her academy training as the Clone Wars began, Kalifa was taken from Coruscant by Trandoshan slavers. Alongside fellow Initiates O-Mer and Jinx, she was transported to the lunar surface of Wasskah.
Set loose in the wilderness of Island Four, the three Initiates struggled to evade their captors, who hunted them relentlessly for sport. They sought refuge in caves and tree hollows by night, constantly moving to avoid detection. During their captivity, they encountered at least one captured Padawan who was ultimately killed by the Trandoshans after trying to confront them. Kalifa and her companions were compelled to abandon their Jedi role as protectors, realizing that aiding other prisoners would result in certain death for all of them. It wasn't until the Padawan Ahsoka Tano was captured and brought to the moon that the Initiates started to reclaim their training and adopt a more proactive stance. In the process, Kalifa's hope was rekindled.
While searching for the Trandoshan base, the four Jedi trainees were ambushed, splitting them into two groups. As Tano and Kalifa fled into the jungle, a young Trandoshan hunter, Dar, pursued them, managing to knock Kalifa into the undergrowth. Granted the opportunity for the kill by his father, Dar continued his pursuit of the two Force-sensitives. After a short hand-to-hand combat encounter, the two Jedi managed to impale the Trandoshan on a jungle plant. As Tano assisted Kalifa to her feet, a blaster bolt fired by a vengeful Garnac struck Kalifa in the back, piercing her heart, and she collapsed. Seeking cover, Tano stayed with Kalifa as her life ebbed away, promising to protect the others and guide them off the planet. Upon Kalifa's death, Tano departed, leaving her body resting on a tree root.
Standing at 1.72 meters (5 feet, 8 inches) tall, Kalifa was a human female characterized by black hair, brown eyes, and light tan skin. She emerged as the leader of the young Jedi stranded on Wasskah, striving to maintain their hope amidst her own fear and anger. The arrival of Ahsoka Tano, a Togruta Padawan, instilled in her a renewed sense of optimism.
Kalifa possessed strong leadership qualities, inspiring others to maintain hope. She also demonstrated power in the Force, proficiency in unarmed combat, and well-developed survival skills, which aided her in evading and resisting the Trandoshan hunters.
Kalifa made an appearance in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Padawan Lost," with Gwendoline Yeo providing her voice.
