Trandosha

Trandosha, alternatively referred to as Dosh, existed as an arboreal planet situated within the galaxy's Mid Rim. It was the original homeworld of the reptilian Trandoshan species. A moon abundant with greenery, known as Wasskah, orbited it. Furthermore, it shared a star system with Kashyyyk, the planet of the Wookiees, who were the Trandoshans' sworn adversaries. The notorious bounty hunter Bossk hailed from Trandosha.

Description

Trandosha, also known as Dosh, was a planet within the Kashyyyk system, a single-star system in the Mid Rim's Mytaranor sector. Its location was grid square P-9 on the Standard Galactic Grid. The verdant moon Wasskah orbited Trandosha, which was located near Kashyyyk within the same system.

Trandosha was a temperate world abundant with thick jungles, forests, and plains, making it an ideal hunter's paradise. When viewed from space, it had a greenish tint, and the planet's marbled surface was covered in large, white clouds. It was the original homeworld of the Trandoshan hunting hound, a hound species with a squarish muzzle, as well as the Doshian jellyfish, a jellyfish species.

History

A consulate reception occurred on Trandosha in 382 BBY, during the week preceding the Battle of Jedha. Jedi Master Orin Darhga was present at the meeting and attempted to tell a joke based on toilet humor, unaware that this would offend the locals and invite him to a duel. Darhga used his lightsaber to win the duel but remembered the event as a reminder that toilet humor was not always appreciated. The experience also convinced him that he was a poor ambassador.

Inhabitants

Sentient reptilian humanoids, the Trandoshans, called Trandosha home and were known for their hunting skills. They allied their world with the Galactic Republic. They had a bitter rivalry with the Wookiees, a sentient species from the nearby planet Kashyyyk. Predation and supremacy were central to Trandosha's culture, which often clashed with the Jedi Order's principles, making Trandoshan Jedi uncommon. Toilet humor was not appreciated on Trandosha, as it was considered an insult and an invitation to duel.

Notable Trandoshans from Trandosha included Bossk, a highly feared bounty hunter; his sister, Doshanalawook, who used the alias Chainbreaker to free Wookiees from captivity; Gha Nachkt, the captain of a salvage ship; Garnac, a big-game hunter; and Feresk Tssat, a pilot.

Locations

The Scorch, Trandosha's sunbaked plains, were a place where Trandoshans enjoyed sunbathing and mothers routinely laid their nest-eggs. A diner on the planet was visited by J-4X and a droid repair technician after the Resistance was founded in 28 ABY.

Behind the scenes

The original script for "Padawan Lost," episode twenty-one of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' third season, featured "Dosha," the Trandoshan homeworld, as its primary location. However, this was later changed to Wasskah, Trandosha's moon. Although Trandosha is not visited, it can still be seen in the episode's final version and in the following episode, "Wookiee Hunt," both of which aired on April 1, 2011. Trandosha first appeared in "The Prize Pelt: The Tale of Bossk," a Star Wars Legends short story by Kathy Tyers from the 1996 anthology Tales of the Bounty Hunters.
