Feresk Tssat, known by the moniker "Frisk," was a male pilot of the Trandoshan species, serving the New Republic as a member of Vanguard Squadron. He primarily piloted a BTL Y-wing starfighter. Around 5 ABY, the squadron operated within the Bormea sector, but they soon journeyed to the planet Troithe to offer assistance to General Hera Syndulla's Barma Battle Group in their fight against the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. As the fighter wing deployed a bulk freighter in an attempt to flee, Tssat, a pilot under Syndulla's command, inquired of Wyl Lark regarding the desired positioning of Vanguard Squadron by the squadron commander. Despite the New Republic's efforts, the 204th ultimately managed to escape the conflict.
During a period in his past, Feresk worked as a smuggler, obtaining valuable items for clients who paid him. According to Feresk himself, he once unknowingly acquired a fake painting for an Imperial governor, who subsequently presented it to Admiral Thrawn. This resulted in a death mark being placed on Feresk's head, compelling him to seek refuge with the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
During the time of the Galactic Civil War, Feresk Tssat was a pilot within the New Republic's Vanguard Squadron. Circa 5 ABY, the squadron was engaged in a special mission in the Bormea sector, aimed at bolstering the New Republic's supply of starship resources. General Hera Syndulla dispatched forces to aid Vanguard Squadron, but she soon learned that her own battle group had been devastated by the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing during their campaign in the Cerberon system. Consequently, Syndulla, with Tssat among them, took Vanguard Squadron and their headquarters, the MC75 Star Cruiser Temperance, to the Cerberon system, where some of her battle group's surviving forces were fighting the 204th at the planet Troithe.
The squadron engaged the [fighter wing](/article/fighter_wing], which quickly launched a bulk freighter from Troithe's surface in an attempt to get away. As one Vanguard pilot reported what seemed to be a 204th squadron docking with the freighter, Tssat inquired of Wyl Lark, a senior pilot from Syndulla's remaining forces, about where the squadron commander desired Vanguard Squadron to be. Lark initially tried to get the fighter wing to surrender, but when they refused, he opted to have the New Republic forces chase the bulk freighter. In the end, the 204th launched missiles to cause a diversion for the New Republic, and the fighter wing escaped aboard the freighter while Vanguard pilots were chasing them.
Feresk was a male Trandoshan, notable for his pale pink scales and orange eyes. His pale pink scales were due to his Albinism. He was typically seen wearing a blue flight suit, complemented by a standard New Republic helmet. The helmet featured blue trim and orange Alliance logos on each side's front half. Feresk openly expressed his loyalties and his ambition to earn credits, but during a dogfight, he was always devoted to his fellow squadron pilots.
The character of Feresk Tssat was created for the video game Star Wars: Squadrons, which launched on October 2, 2020. James Arnold Taylor provided the voice for Tssat. The character's image was first revealed in the Star Wars: Squadrons reveal trailer on June 15, 2020, and his voice first appeared in the novel Shadow Fall, penned by Alexander Freed and released on June 23, 2020. While the novel only mentioned the surname Tssat, Star Wars: Squadrons revealed his first name and the nickname "Frisk."
Joanna Berry, the writer for Squadrons who conceived the concept and characters, wanted to include a Trandoshan scoundrel in the game, inspired by her fondness for the species from writing the Trandoshan Qyzen Fess in the online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic. Berry mentioned that the nature of Squadrons required the characters to be both unique and balanced in terms of character types within the squadron.
