Drik Bandrik, a male slaver, plied his trade on the desert planet of Tatooine during the period known as the Galactic Civil War.
Following the Battle of Yavin, Bandrik established his operations on Tatooine. While there, he employed Rakir Banai, the father of Kitster, who lived and worked in the town of Wayfar. Without Rakir's knowledge, Drik Bandrik was secretly a very influential slaver. He also ran a mining operation as a front.
In the year 1 ABY, Drik developed a personal grudge against Kitster. When the young man started working to improve the circumstances of slaves on Tatooine, he angered Drik. Seeking revenge, Drik deceived a tribe of Jawas from Wittin's clan, making them believe Kitster had pilfered a droid. Drik also falsely accused Kitster of orchestrating a slave uprising at Jabba's Palace some years prior. Jabba, believing Drik Bandrik's story, dispatched a henchman by the name of Deeng to assassinate Kitster. Drik even went so far as to frame Kitster for the murder of an innocent moisture farmer, Krin Vel. Sont Toipo, a local vigilante leader in Drik's pocket, was instructed to incite a mob of enraged moisture farmers to kill Kitster.
However, all of Drik's schemes were thwarted by a spacer aiding Kitster. Wittin's Jawa subordinates were eliminated before they could reach Kitster, as were Deeng and Toipo, the mob leader. However, Kitster's own father almost endangered him. Drik told Rakir that a troublemaker in Mos Espa had dispatched a saboteur called Triggo Binz to sabotage his mining business. Drik claimed he would destroy the mine to eliminate competition. Rakir, however, heard that the unnamed troublemaker was actually concerned about the mine's working conditions. Regardless, Rakir hired a spacer to eliminate Triggo. Before being killed, Triggo revealed Drik's true nature as a slaver. Disturbed by this accusation, Rakir instructed the spacer to meet with a Bothan spy to verify the truth about Drik and discover the troublemaker's identity. Rakir then realized Drik had been manipulating him to act against his own son. Upon this realization, he sent the spacer to assassinate Drik's majordomo, Wizzel, in order to void his contract and free himself from Drik's control.
Furthermore, the individual assisting Kitster located Krin Vel, the supposedly murdered moisture farmer. Drik had, in fact, paid her to leave Mos Espa, giving Sont Toipo time to assemble an angry mob. With Krin's help, Kitster gathered enough evidence to clear his name of Drik's false accusations. He then had the evidence sent to his friend, Thermal Det, who ensured the information reached Jabba.
Drik's plots had completely backfired. All of his henchmen, including his majordomo, had been killed. Additionally, Rakir had terminated his work agreement with Drik and set out to find Kitster. Moreover, thanks to the evidence Kitster had compiled, Jabba now knew the truth about Drik's lies. Kitster believed Jabba would be furious about being manipulated and that Drik would be wise to flee the planet if he wanted to survive.
Drik Bandrik was a character featured in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies. He was a key figure in two questlines within the game. Players who spoke with Kitster in Mos Espa could receive quests to thwart Drik's henchmen and exonerate Kitster from various false charges. Players could also receive separate quests from Rakir Banai in Wayfar. These quests uncovered the truth about Drik Bandrik and the identity of the troublemaker, who was revealed to be Rakir's son.
The Kitster Banai questline concluded with the suggestion that Jabba would be enraged with Drik, and that he should probably leave Tatooine to save his life. However, Drik Bandrik's ultimate fate was never explicitly revealed.
