The Duracrud, a YV-666 light freighter, became Uran Lavint's possession following her capture by Jacen Solo. This was compensation for Jacen taking her original vessel, Breathe My Jets. After Lavint made an insulting remark, Jacen intentionally sabotaged the hyperdrive, ensuring it would fail on its second jump, anticipating smugglers' common practice of jumping to a secluded spot before their final destination. Unbeknownst to Jacen, the Dark Jedi Alema Rar had secretly hidden herself in the ship's cargo hold, depending on Lavint's assistance in locating Han and Leia Solo. In return for repairing the hyperdrive, Alema agreed to help Lavint.
To track down the Solos, the pair traveled aboard the Duracrud to the location of the Errant Venture. However, Booster Terrik, along with a team that included the Solos, Wedge and Iella Antilles, Corran Horn, Jagged Fel, and Jaina Solo, ambushed them. This surprise attack forced Alema to commandeer the Duracrud and flee.
Alema then piloted the freighter to Gilatter VIII, knowing that the Confederation summit was taking place there. Lavint had informed her that the Solos would be present, and also alerted the Solos to Alema's presence, providing them with a warning. When Jacen Solo found himself trapped by the Confederation on a satellite resort, the Solos, accompanied by Luke and Mara Skywalker, flew to the dome to rescue him. Alema strategically positioned the Duracrud among the other parked ships, several kilometers away, and programmed waypoints into the navigation computer. As Alema and Lumiya launched their joint attack on the Solos and Skywalkers, the Duracrud initiated its acceleration towards the dome, crashing through it, then the floor beneath, and ultimately piercing the station's central axis.
