DX-2 disruptor blaster pistol

The DX-2 disruptor blaster pistol, also known as the DX-2 disruptor pistol, represented a type of disruptor blaster pistol with the capability to completely break down organic lifeforms. Despite being outlawed by the Rebel Alliance, certain members still made use of it, such as Brand from the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry.

Description

This disruptor blaster pistol, known as the DX-2 disruptor blaster pistol, possessed the ability to disintegrate living beings. Furthermore, the DX-2 disruptor pistol packed enough power to blast open a metal hatch with a mere couple of shots. Featuring a gray color, it was designed for single-hand operation, but could also be held with both hands for added stability.

History

Throughout the galaxy during the Imperial Era, disruptor weapons faced widespread prohibition. The Rebel Alliance also banned the DX-2 due to its immense destructive capacity. Nevertheless, some operatives chose to utilize it regardless. Brand, a member of the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, carried a modified DX-2 disruptor as her personal weapon during the Galactic Civil War that pitted the Alliance against the Galactic Empire. She meticulously maintained this rare and valuable weapon, and was prepared to brandish it publicly when the situation demanded, despite the existing restrictions. In 3 ABY, when the 61st Infantry's corvette Thunderstrike suffered an infiltration, Brand employed the weapon to get back onto the ship and obliterate several Imperial invaders as the rebels retook control of the vessel. Not long after this event, Brand sold her DX-2 disruptor on the planet Ankhural for a substantial price, a decision she later regretted.

Behind the scenes

Within current Star Wars canon, the disruptor made its initial appearance in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company by Alexander Freed. Later, it was depicted and identified as the DX-2 disruptor blaster pistol on a Star Wars: Destiny card, with artwork by Greg Bobrowski and released within the Spark of Hope expansion pack on July 5, 2019. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the DX-2 received its first mention in the 1997 sourcebook The Essential Guide to Weapons and Technology, authored by Bill Smith. It then debuted in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, developed by Sony Online Entertainment.
