Dyon Stadd

Dyon Stadd, a Human male from the Legends continuity, once aspired to be a Jedi Knight as a Jedi Candidate. However, he was not strong enough in the Force. He met Ben and Luke Skywalker on Dathomir in 43.5 ABY.

Biography

Before departing due to his limited Force abilities, Stadd was a Jedi candidate during the Yuuzhan Vong War. He eventually made his way to Dathomir, where he aided in negotiations between the Dathomiri clans and traders. In 43.5 ABY, he accompanied Han and Leia Solo on their quest to locate and help Luke and Ben Skywalker. He was caught up in the conflict between the Nightsisters and the Bright Sun Clan. Later, Stadd assisted the Skywalkers in their fight with the Lost Tribe Sith. He also joined them and the Solos when they confronted Monarg, a mechanic, about his involvement with Vestara Khai of the Sith. With the Skywalkers' support, Stadd filed a claim for Khai's ship, She's a Chancer, which Monarg possessed, and renamed it Bright Sun. While on Klatooine supervising Vestara and Ben as they bought supplies, Dyon fell victim to Abeloth's influence, resulting in a destructive outburst. Vestara and Ben managed to restrain him. After Luke arranged for his release from the authorities and took him into his care, Dyon was moved to the medbay on the Jade Shadow. When the allies reached Abeloth's planet, Vestara manipulated him into believing that she and all the other impostors were aligned with Abeloth and therefore Dyon—they had chosen to replace the Sith, who were associated with the Sith Meditation Sphere Ship, who was associated with Abeloth; thus it made sense that the Sith impostors were on his side. She helped Stadd to escape just as Luke, Gavar Khai, and the Sith Lord Sarasu Taalon emerged from their unsuccessful attempt to find Abeloth beyond shadows. The allies then pursued Dyon using a tracking device that Vestara had secretly placed on him.

Stadd located Abeloth, who began to drain his life force. This caused him to realize that her influence was based on lies. However, sensing the Jedi and Sith approaching, she fled, leaving Stadd to die. The Skywalkers and the Sith discovered Stadd, who apologized for his actions, revealing that—even though they all still seemed to be impostors, he realized now that this was Abeloth's influence, and he could overcome it. The allies left a few Sith to guard Stadd while the others went deeper into the tunnel to pursue Abeloth. After a brief skirmish, Abeloth escaped her pursuers and returned up the tunnel, swiftly consuming and killing the Sith guards before turning to finish draining Stadd's life energy. However, Luke Skywalker appeared suddenly, and Abeloth assumed Stadd's appearance while projecting an image of Ming. Skywalker, however, saw through her deception and stabbed what he thought was Stadd's body. Abeloth then transformed into her true form before seemingly dying. The Jedi and Sith found Stadd lying nearby and took him back to the Jade Shadow for medical attention. However, the Sith and Jedi soon discovered that Abeloth had actually switched bodies with Stadd and Abeloth still lived. Skywalker had not actually killed Stadd; the human Dyon Stadd was no longer alive as soon as Abeloth made him an avatar of herself.

Behind the scenes

In Fate of the Jedi: Allies and Vortex, his name, along with Kyp Durron's, is consistently spelled incorrectly as "Dyon Stad".
