Edic Bar

Edic Bar, a city that floated on the gas giant Genarius, was a SoroSuub Corporation creation. In 32 BBY, the Metatheran Cartel brought SoroSuub into the Cularin system, aiming to break the Trade Federation's grip on Cularin's commerce. Soon after, SoroSuub bankrolled the construction of Edic Bar, becoming a dominant force in the city and arguably, the entire system.

This beautiful city, Edic Bar, boasted towering structures and sharp architectural designs, carefully arranged to optimize views of both internal and external traffic. Furthermore, the city was designed for maximum efficiency, featuring thoroughfares that streamlined the movement of goods. The docking bays were strategically positioned to allow SoroSuub to conduct business discreetly, away from the prying eyes of competitors.

At that time, SoroSuub was expanding its product offerings, establishing Edic Bar as a manufacturing hub for the G-59 Cannibalizers, ships closely resembling Incom's popular Z-95 Headhunter. Upon completion of the first Cannibalizer, Miim Te'Suub halted production and delivered a speech, concluding by granting his workforce a day off. Unaccustomed to leisure, many workers flocked to Tolea Biqua to celebrate. Fueled by the disposable income of SoroSuub's employees, the festivities quickly spread from cantina to cantina, then to commercial sail barges and private vessels in the skies above Genarius, lasting a full four days.

Annually, on the anniversary of the first Cannibalizer's completion, production ceased for a holiday known as Festival. This celebration expanded to encompass all cities on Genarius and even some elsewhere in the system, though Tolea Biqua remained the focal point. SoroSuub's leadership cleverly leveraged Festival, and the potential threat of its cancellation, as a means of control over their workers when demanding tasks arose.

SoroSuub's Edic Bar leaders have asserted mining claims on the harsh moon Ulbasca, challenging rival Naescorcom, despite neither company having actively pursued mining operations there.

In 31 BBY, Edic Bar's population included a significant number of Sullustans, a mere three Trandoshans (one of whom was Juuus), and IT-O9, a droid formerly owned by Riboga the Hutt who transitioned from interrogator to quality controller.

Behind the scenes

The Living Force Campaign Guide presents conflicting information regarding the timeline of Edic Bar's creation. While discussing the state of the Cularin System during the book's current period, it mentions that Edic Bar was constructed in the year following the Trade Federation's defeat at Naboo. However, elsewhere, the commencement of the starship line and the development of Edic Bar are described using present tense verbs.

Furthermore, when referencing the Central Council established by Riboga the Hutt, Edic Bar is identified as one of the five cities represented in the Council, despite the Hutt's departure from the Genarius system 21 years prior to the Battle of Naboo. In discussions about engineering challenges with the G-59, it's mentioned that engineers were still addressing a specific issue a decade after Edic Bar's construction and the beginning of G-59 production. Additionally, Festival is described as an annual event, even though only one year had passed since Edic Bar's establishment within the book's timeframe.
