Plot summary

The narrative begins with Chopper awakening on a planetoid, specifically a scrap pile, where Davil and Bidvel are preparing to dismantle him for spare components. Simultaneously, aboard the Ghost, Hera Syndulla, Garazeb Orrelios, and Sabine Wren are searching for the missing droid, but their efforts are interrupted by an attack from an Arquitens-class command cruiser.

Initially, Davil and Bidvel underestimate Chopper's value. However, upon discovering that he possesses valuable rebel intelligence, they devise a plan to sell this information to the Galactic Empire. Chopper manages a brief escape, during which he successfully steals the necessary activation codes to bring the various droids located around the scrap pile back online. He is eventually recaptured, and Davil proceeds to copy the stolen information into their computer systems. As Chopper is on the verge of being destroyed, the reactivated droids launch an attack on the two Xots. A B2-series super battle droid holds Bidvel at blasterpoint, but Davil manages to shoot one of the astromech droids. In response, the super droid stuns Davil with a blaster shot, and a droideka intervenes to prevent Chopper's destruction.

Shortly thereafter, the Ghost arrives, having successfully evaded the Imperial ship, and lands on the planetoid. Syndulla assures Chopper that she will replace any damaged parts and promises to erase the stolen data from Davil's computers. Chopper inspires the rescued droids to create a group dedicated to assisting other droids. The rescued droids express their desire for Chopper to remain with them as their leader. However, Chopper declines, preferring to stay with his friends. The group of droids understands his decision and expresses their hope for a future reunion.
