The Executor project represents a shipbuilding initiative undertaken by the Galactic Empire during its time in power, focused on producing the Executor-class Star Dreadnought. This project was launched before the Battle of Yavin to bolster the strength of the DS-1 Death Star Mobile Battle Station and suppress the expanding Rebel Alliance. Galactic Emperor Darth Sidious himself issued the directives, mandating the construction of four Executor-class vessels, and the entire operation was deliberately kept hidden from the watchful eyes of the Imperial Senate. To further mask the project's actual expenses and scope, Emperor Palpatine disseminated misleading details about the Executor-class's specifications to the Imperial Senate's committees.
As a consequence, the Executor was built at the shipyards of the planet Kuat, and the Lusankya was constructed at the shipyards located near the world of Fondor. The project intentionally misrepresented the Executor-class's dimensions, reporting them as between 8,000 and 13,000 meters, while its actual length reached 19,000 meters. The project also underscored the Emperor's resolve to find and destroy the Rebel Alliance completely. However, after the Death Star's destruction above the moon of Yavin 4, the project gained greater tactical significance, leading to a significant acceleration of construction plans.
