Fane Peturri, a historian and associate of Schurk-Heren, the Uhumele's captain, agreed to broker the sale of Dreypa's Oubliette.
Fane Peturri, a human historian, lived during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Three months following the Declaration of the New Order, Schurk-Heren, captain of the Uhumele, contacted him to facilitate the sale of the "Jebble Box," discovered on the planet Aridus, on a desert moon located in the Expansion Region.
Because Schurk-Heren believed Fane lacked criminal connections, he was willing to trade his ship's valuable goods. However, upon arrival for the transaction, Peturri was revealed as an agent of Darth Vader, who had learned of the cargo and planned an ambush for the crew. Peturri then commenced studying the oubliette and related Sith artifacts. He uncovered the memoirs of a Snivvian crime lord, and was interrupted by a Jedi concerning rakghouls. Fane concluded that the oubliette originated in the pre-Republic era.
Despite Fane's warnings about the Muur Talisman and its power to generate rakghouls within, Vader cleaved it open, revealing a young woman inside. Panicked, Fane donned a protective suit to avoid infection. Upon Celeste's awakening, he informed her that four thousand years had passed since her time. She then questioned him extensively about a Covenant, rakghouls, Mandalorians, and the Republic. When he revealed that the Sith had seized control, she promptly attacked Vader.
As the duel paused, Peturri attempted to flee towards Vader's transport, but Vader Force grabbed him, realizing that this was another test from his master. Fane admitted that he was compelled by the Emperor, who sensed Vader's ambition to usurp him and sought an apprentice to aid in his endeavor.
Fane's protective suit failed to defend against the effects of Sith magic, resulting in his transformation into a rakghoul. He was intercepted mid-air, as he tried to attack the Sith Lord, and died instantly.
