Song of the Force

The rare Force power known as the Song of the Force, also known as Avar Kriss's network, a "sabersong," or a Force song, involved using telepathy to sense the inherent connections between Force-sensitives and link their minds via the Force. The connection established by this ability was not precise, primarily conveying sensations across its structure. However, it offered faster communication than spoken words, enabling a Force-sensitive individual to perceive the sentiments and viewpoints of others after a strategy was proposed. With intense focus, a user could employ a modified version of this network, fostering a more profound connection with the beings surrounding them.

History

During the Great Hyperspace Disaster circa 232 BBY, Jedi Master Avar Kriss employed this technique. From the bridge of the Third Horizon, stationed above the planet Hetzal Prime, Kriss managed to connect the senses of numerous Jedi throughout the Hetzal system as they worked to prevent hyperspace debris from obliterating the planet and its moons. Through her network, she could perceive the emotions of Jedi across the system, interpreting them as melodies within the Force. One such melody originated from Burryaga Agaburry, a Wookiee Padawan who used the network to inform Kriss that the debris contained living entities.

Kriss persistently monitored and directed the efforts on Hetzal utilizing her power. This continued until it was discovered that a piece of debris, a container filled with liquid Tibanna, was on a collision course with the system's R-class star. A collision would trigger a catastrophic chain reaction, leading to the system's destruction. Kriss positioned herself on Hetzal Prime's surface, amidst the abundant life of the agriworld. Harnessing the Force, she rapidly rotated her lightsaber in the air, producing a single, harmonious note. This sound aided her concentration, enabling her to delve deeper into her network, connecting with all life within the system and focusing her fellow Jedi on diverting the container away from the star. Despite experiencing immense fatigue, the collective effort of the Jedi successfully pushed the object just beyond the star's reach, thereby saving the Hetzal system.

Behind the scenes

Charles Soule, the author, drew a comparison between Avar Kriss's Force song network and the Force power known as Battle Meditation. Battle Meditation initially appeared in Star Wars Legends but has since been canonized, even making an appearance in The High Republic through Kriss's fellow Jedi Porter Engle. Kriss's ability also bears resemblance to the Legends Force power called Force meld.
