Fury-class vessels designed for transport were frequently employed by notable Sith Warriors and Sith Inquisitors as their operational hubs during crucial missions they were assigned. Reflecting this purpose, the interior featured a spacious communications center equipped with a holoprojector, alongside cabins for the crew and a dedicated conference space.
The command bridge was centrally positioned at the ship's fore. It was outfitted with several computer consoles and seating for both the pilot and co-pilot, all under the supervision of the commanding officer seated at the bridge's center. The Imperial interceptor's offensive capabilities included four potent laser cannons and missiles, designed to inflict substantial damage rapidly, complemented by military-grade shielding to withstand engagements in space battles and starfighter combat scenarios. Furthermore, the Imperial Interceptor offered straightforward upgrade options for diverse operational needs, from eliminating enemy shuttles to weakening the armaments of larger Republic warships to provide advantages to allied forces.
A minimum of three of these transport ships participated in the Empire's recapture of Korriban in the opening stages of the Great Galactic War. One such vessel transported Vindican and his apprentice, Malgus, to the orbital station near the planet. These transport ships were housed within the hangars of Imperial battlecruisers and were utilized by various personnel within the Empire. One such individual was Teneb Kel, who employed his Fury-class transport during his pursuit of Exal Kressh.
The Fury-class Imperial Interceptor was extensively manufactured and regularly deployed within the Imperial Armada. During the reconquest of Ord Radama, a force comprising 4 Harrower-class dreadnoughts, 45 Fury Imperial Interceptors, and 192 ISF interceptors was present under the command of Darth Malgus before launching an assault on the Core Worlds during the Great Galactic War. As the Cold War neared its conclusion, another vessel of this type was entrusted to a promising young Sith Lord under the tutelage of Darth Baras. They utilized the ship for transport to various worlds, carrying out their master's directives until they reached Quesh, where Baras betrayed them. Subsequently, the ship became the mobile headquarters for the newly appointed Lord Wrath and their allies, culminating in events that led to their defeat of their former master.
Around the start of the Galactic War, another Fury-class vessel was provided to a Sith Inquisitor by the recently promoted Darth Zash to locate the lost artifacts of Tulak Hord, which Zash intended to use to seize her apprentice's body for herself. Following Zash's demise after a battle between master and apprentice, the inquisitor repurposed the ship as their mobile base of operations in their conflict against Darth Thanaton and in their quest for Force ghosts to amplify their power to overcome him.
The Fury-class interceptor's design originated from the concept art team led by Ryan Dening, the principal concept artist for Star Wars: The Old Republic, who envisioned it as the personal starship for Sith players. At the project's inception, the team had already settled on a geometric aesthetic characterized by sleek surfaces and numerous angles for Imperial vessels. Due to the ship's intended role as a standard-issue model, they had limited latitude to deviate significantly from this established style.
