The Galtea Binary system was a star system comprised of two stars that resided within the Kathol Outback region of the Outer Rim Territories'. The dual suns of this system emitted radiation fields, which had the capability to obscure a passing starship from being detected by sensors. The system is classified as binary.
When New Republic corvette, the FarStar, sustained an attack in the neighboring Galtea system carried out by forces under the command of the former Moff Kentor Sarne, the corvette sought refuge in the binary system, where repairs to the vessel were initiated. While situated within the system, the crew of the FarStar discovered that their captain, Kaiya Adrimetrum, who had become comatose as a result of the attack, had been secretly poisoned by a saboteur who was onboard the ship. Subsequently, the corvette journeyed to the nearby planet Sebiris to discover the origin of the toxin affecting Adrimetrum.
The Galtea Binary system, a binary star system, was found in the Kathol Outback, which is a section of the Outer Rim Territories' Kathol sector. Situated a few hours' travel away from the Galtea system, it was home to two unstable suns generating radiation fields strong enough to temporarily prevent starship detection by sensor scans.
In 8 ABY, the New Republic corvette FarStar was attacked within the Galtea system by forces commanded by the former Imperial Moff Kentor Sarne. The FarStar successfully evaded the battle by executing a series of micro-jumps through hyperspace via plotting, ultimately leading the corvette to the uncharted binary system.

Acting Captain Gorak Khzam and Security Officer Kl'aal were in agreement that the radiation emitted by the twin suns would shield the FarStar from enemy sensor scans. Therefore, the corvette remained within the system while the ship underwent repairs. During their time in the binary system, the FarStar's medical personnel provided care for Kaiya Adrimetrum, the ship's captain. Adrimetrum had been poisoned by the Wraith, Sarne's undercover assassin, during the attack near Galtea, which caused her to become comatose.
While Adrimetrum remained in her incapacitated state, the crew of the ship initiated an investigation into evidence suggesting that the captain had been secretly poisoned by a saboteur who was present on board.
Breslin Drake, the former Alliance Intelligence Major, then proposed that the corvette investigate the planet Sebiris located within the neighboring Sebiris system as a potential source of the toxin affecting Adrimetrum. Acting upon Drake's suggestion, the FarStar departed the binary system and headed for Sebiris.
The Galtea Binary system made its initial appearance in "Traitor in our Midst," which served as the sixth roleplaying game adventure featured in The DarkStryder Campaign. This campaign was a 1995 Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game boxed set created by West End Games. Eric S. Trautmann and Paul Sudlow were the writers of the adventure. Although the system was not identified by name in its debut, it was officially named in the 2009 reference book titled The Essential Atlas, which designated its location as grid square M-21.
