Ghulil, a veteran of war and a Mon Calamari male commander, fought for the Galactic Republic in the Cold War against the reconstituted Sith Empire. Near the Cold War's conclusion, Ghulil was stationed on the Republic starship called the Brentaal Star, which was transporting the Imperial defector "The General". He played a role in the defense of the vessel during the attack launched by the Imperial transport, the [Black Talon]. As Imperial soldiers stormed the Brentaal Star in an attempt to recapture The General, Ghulil faced their commander, resulting in his death.
The video game Star Wars: The Old Republic marked Ghulil's initial appearance, as he is featured as the second boss in the Imperial Flashpoint "The Black Talon." Game data reveals that the Black Talon Flashpoint was initially designed with a cutscene dialogue between the player and Ghulil before the battle; in this scene Ghulil would introduce himself as "Special Forces Commander Ghulil—honored hero of the Dac Military Academy."
