Gil Kane

Gil Kane, whose real name was Eli Katz (born April 6, 1926; died January 31, 2000), was a comic book artist. He provided the artwork for a number of covers of the Marvel Star Wars comic book series. Furthermore, he was selected by Dark Horse Comics to create the comic adaptation of Dark Force Rising, but he had to withdraw from the project because of scheduling issues.

Kane later began to draw for DC Comics, where he contributed to numerous titles over many years. His work revitalizing DC's Green Lantern and The Atom in the late 1950s is among his most noteworthy accomplishments. Kane also contributed to Marvel Comics, where he drew several Spider-Man stories and frequently produced covers for various titles, including Star Wars. Kane passed away in 2000 due to complications related to cancer.
