Star Wars 9 is the ninth edition of the Legends comic book series titled Star Wars. Roy Thomas penned the story, Howard Chaykin created the illustrations, and Marvel Comics initially released it on December 13, 1977. The narrative, "Showdown on a Wasteland World!," centers around the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3's defense of the village Onacra against the Cloud-Riders.
Han Solo, Chewbacca, alongside the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3, get to Ramiz's village, Onacra, only to witness an ongoing attack by airborne High-hounds. They successfully fend off the creatures, thereby rescuing Merri, the young daughter of the village spokesman, Oncho. Their respite is brief, as Serji-X Arrogantus and his Cloud-Riders initiate an assault. Displaying courage, the Star-Hoppers stand their ground and defend the village, but FE-9Q meets its end during the confrontation. However, Merri's grandfather, the Old One, who is a shaman, rejects the assistance of the hired spacers' and instead calls upon a massive, mythical reptilian monster referred to as the Behemoth from the World Below to deal with the invading Cloud-Riders.
In another storyline, Luke Skywalker informs Leia Organa about his discovery of a new location in the Drexel system for the Rebel Alliance base. The transmission is abruptly cut off, prompting a concerned Leia to embark on a mission to locate Luke.
Roy Thomas took on the responsibilities of both writer and editor for this particular issue.
