Gonky, a malfunctioning GNK-series power droid, provided service to Clone Force 99 while they were aboard the Marauder. The droid was often utilized by Wrecker as a tool for weightlifting. Due to his defective nature, Gonky's power cell could not achieve a full charge. For a short period, the enhanced clone Omega made use of the droid as a makeshift bed. Furthermore, she would occasionally converse with Gonky, showing him her trooper doll. When Zygerrians boarded the Marauder as enemies, Omega instructed the droid to conceal himself, but he simply powered down.
Omega attempted to repair Gonky's power unit so that it could fully recharge, but Hunter informed her that it was futile because he was a defective unit. The young clone comforted Gonky by stating that they were all defective. During the Bad Batch's mission to Daro, Gonky supplied additional power to the ship during an attack by Imperial V-wing starfighters, but he short-circuited when a second wave of V-wings began firing.
During a mission to Ciddarin Scaleback's mine located on Ipsidon, the Marauder was stolen by a thief and miner known as Benni Baro. He had deactivated the ship's transponder to prevent the Bad Batch from locating it. However, because Gonky remained on board the Marauder, the Batch was able to track him down, allowing them to reclaim them at Mokkotown.
Sometime later, after experiencing numerous events with the Bad Batch, Gonky found himself on Pabu as the group made preparations to depart from the island. He was with Wrecker while he was loading supplies, and Wrecker rescued him from destruction when CX-2 detonated the Marauder to prevent the Batch from leaving.
When Omega eventually departed from Pabu in her ship to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic, Gonky went with her.
Gonky's initial appearance was in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode titled "A Distant Echo," although he was not named at the time. He was later identified on the StarWars.com Databank. Within the non-canon LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Gonky is featured in the mission called "Gonk with the Hyperwind," where the player's objective is to escort him to a battery slot within Pau City while defending him from B1-series battle droids.
