Halagad Ventor (clone)

A duplicate of Halagad Ventor, generated by the deranged genetic terrorist Zeta Magnus, came into being during the opening months of the Clone Wars.

Biography

Origins

In the decades leading up to the Clone Wars, the mutant Zeta Magnus managed to escape his Arkanian creators and journeyed across the galaxy. Soon after realizing his creators had programmed a death date into his genetic structure, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious contacted him, offering immortality in return for his allegiance. Although Zeta consented to provide his genetic skills to Sidious and his underlings, he harbored deep mistrust and plotted to eliminate the Dark Lord should he fail to keep his word. In 22 BBY, Zeta Magnus became a scourge to the S'kytri people, proclaiming himself the Magister of their homeworld Skye to elicit a response from the Jedi as per Sidious's directives. When Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Commander Anakin Skywalker, and Commander Halagad Ventor were sent to subdue him, Darth Sidious gave the order to assassinate Kenobi and Ventor. He desired that Magnus spare Skywalker, allowing him to develop under his influence upon his return from Skye. Ultimately, Zeta Magnus resolved to break his pact with the Dark Lord and began devising strategies to oppose him. Before the Jedi departed for their assignment, Zeta Magnus utilized his operatives to secure analysis-grade blood and tissue samples from Kenobi and Anakin from a secure medical source.

Creation

Within the laboratory of his lavish fortress situated atop the Canaitith Mountain on Skye, Zeta Magnus initiated the growth of a clone of Anakin and Obi-Wan. Employing modified Arkanian GeNode cloning technology, coupled with ancient Jedi cloning methods obtained from the abandoned cloning facility beneath the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine, Zeta successfully produced two stable clones of the Jedi in a matter of days. By the time Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Jedi Knight Halagad Ventor reached the fortress and were taken prisoner, the clones had developed to the equivalent age of ten standard years. As the clones were essentially empty vessels, Zeta Magnus affixed Mindscan droids to the Jedi's heads to scan their minds. Once the scans were finalized, the droids would flash-pump all of the Jedi's memories into the minds of their respective clones. To guarantee the clones' loyalty and obedience, cyber-mnemonic implantations would be installed, granting Zeta Magnus complete dominion over their minds and transforming them into compliant automatons. Given that the clones possessed the same midi-chlorian count as their originals, Zeta Magnus would command two fully trained Force-sensitive Jedi at his beck and call.

Destruction

At the moment the Jedi were captured, only the clones of Obi-Wan and Anakin were in development. While the three Jedi were incapacitated for thirty minutes due to a stun blast, Zeta Magnus gathered genetic material from Halagad and initiated its processing. Zeta Magnus disclosed that he had been ordered to eliminate Kenobi and Ventor so the young Skywalker could prosper under his benefactor's guidance. Instead of executing the two Jedi and returning the Chosen One to Darth Sidious, Zeta intended to fashion three obedient Jedi slaves and provide Sidious with a clone of Anakin. With Anakin serving as Sidious's confidant, the Sith Lord would remain unaware that his protégé was, in reality, a clone agent under Zeta Magnus's control.

After the mind scans were finished, Zeta Magnus prepared to dispatch the three Jedi using his vibro-ax. The Force-sensitive S'kytri Kharys employed the Force from outside the laboratory window to pull the mutant's weapon, causing it to strike the torture droid that was preventing the restrained Jedi from using the Force. Once the Jedi freed themselves, they engaged Zeta Magnus and his four Thyrsian clones in combat. Zeta Magnus's commandos attempted to hurl a Class-D detonator at the Jedi's location, but Ventor used the Force to detonate it in his own hand. The disruptor detonator annihilated the section of the lab where the commandos stood, obliterating the clones of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and the tank intended to house Ventor's clone.
