Han Solo and the Princess, a musical piece, was written by John Williams and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra specifically for the film The Empire Strikes Back.
This composition serves as the romantic theme for the characters Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa. Its most notable use is during their intimate scene on the Millennium Falcon, while inside the space slug. It is also used again, with greater intensity, when Solo is encased in carbonite within Cloud City. The piece is reprised in Return of the Jedi when Leia reveals herself to Han after his rescue from carbonite at Jabba's Palace. Furthermore, it is heard immediately after the destruction of the second Death Star, when Leia informs Han that Luke Skywalker is her brother, effectively resolving any perceived rivalry between them for Leia's affections.
This love theme is viewed as an extension of Princess Leia's Theme, which was introduced in A New Hope and also starts on a major sixth. While Princess Leia's Theme embodies the princess's innocence, Han Solo and the Princess replaces that innocence with a more mature element in her character.
In Star Wars: Battlefront II, this particular theme plays when the player controls Han Solo.
The soundtrack released on December 18, 2015 for the sequel trilogy film from 2015, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, features the track "Han and Leia." This track incorporates themes from prior films, including "The Force Theme" and "Princess Leia's Theme" from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, in addition to "Han Solo and the Princess." It also includes gentler renditions of tracks from The Force Awakens, such as "March of the Resistance" and Kylo Ren's theme. It initially plays when Han and Leia reunite on Takodana after many years, and continues into the Resistance base located on D'Qar. The theme is also present when Leia and Rey share a sorrowful embrace following the Resistance's return from Starkiller Base, where Han was killed by his and Leia's own son. It makes a brief reappearance in The Last Jedi as Luke gives Han's golden dice to Leia on Crait. The theme is also heard in The Rise of Skywalker when Leia senses the final confrontation between Kylo Ren and Rey.
