"March of the Resistance," a musical piece and theme, was created by John Williams to musically represent the Resistance faction within the 2015 motion picture, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Its initial appearance occurs in the film when Poe Dameron, alongside other Resistance members, arrives on Takodana to fight the First Order forces stationed at Takodana Castle. The musical theme is further developed in the tracks "Han and Leia" and "Scherzo for X-Wings."
The theme is reprised in Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, featuring in tracks such as "Main Title and Escape", "The Supremacy," "Fun with Finn and Rose," "The Battle of Crait" and "Finale".
In Solo: A Star Wars Story, a brief usage of this theme occurs within the "Savareen Stand-Off" track (in its first edition) and "Enfys' Stand-Off (6M35)" (featured in the deluxe edition). It plays as Enfys Nest narrates a tale of rebellion against the Crimson Dawn on Savareen.
Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker also incorporates the theme in tracks like "The Old Death Star", "They Will Come", "Approaching the Throne" (within the commercially released edition), as well as "Falcon Flight", "In the Desert", and "Hallway Shooting" (found in the Academy Awards consideration edition). The opening notes of "March of the Resistance" are also woven into the "The Rise of Skywalker" and "Farewell" tracks as a victory motif.
Within The Mandalorian Season Two's "Chapter 10: The Passenger" episode, this melody is audible as New Republic vessels depart, having rescued Din Djarin from a swarm of knobby white ice spiders. A distinct arrangement of the theme is presented during a conversation between Carson Teva and Carasynthia Dune in "Chapter 12: The Siege." These particular renditions of the theme are credited to Ludwig Göransson.
In The Mandalorian Season Three's "Chapter 19: The Convert," the melody is heard when Dr. Pershing is given a tour of Coruscant. This arrangement was created by Joseph Shirley.
