The Hassarians, denizens of the galaxy, were a species characterized by their slender builds, long snouts, and distinctive lilac hair. They maintained a rivalry spanning centuries with the Skembo, a conflict that persisted up to the High Republic Era. Later, during the Republic Era, the Hassarians aligned themselves with the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Two Hassarians, injured during the Wazta emergence, were transported to the medcenter aboard the Starlight Beacon for medical attention during the High Republic Era. Upon arriving at the space station, Administrator Velko Jahen found one Hassarian suspended within a bacta tank and the other receiving treatment via a bone stabilizer. Ceeril, the Skembo Ambassador representing Rion, became agitated by the Hassarians' presence, requesting protection and orchestrating a fake assassination attempt using Hassarian DNA and hair to force their removal. However, Jahen and KC-78 exposed Ceeril's deception, resulting in his imprisonment.
The Hassarians' initial canonically appearance occurred in the short story "Starlight: First Duty" penned by Cavan Scott. This story was featured in issues 201 and 202 of Star Wars Insider. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the novel Tyrant's Test marked their first mention.
